It may be heavy but it won't fail you in even the worst conditions. Not to mention its off-road capabilities are far and away superior to any of its competitors.

Hows the reliability on the ranger rovers now compared to before?
Im liking the Audi Q5 with the s-line package.

i had one before my 335 and what percent of people that buy a range rover sport are actually going to use it's offroad capabilities? from an on road perspective... it uses more gas than anything... it was underpowered (before the recently updated engines).. but the good thing is that it feels really planted on the road.. i ran it at around 130mph for a good 20 miles on the highway and it felt like i was going 80... but i used my whole tank of gas in that time...

What about the LX570 Its a brawny tank of an SUV with a chassis that is versatile for exceptional off/on road performance, seats 8 people (FIRST SUV to have CRAWL CONTROL - Off Road Cruise Control!). Its no X5/Cayenne in the handling department, but it has enough ground clearance to go up a mountain, let alone some small snow puddles Its the ultimate luxury SUV, reliable and performs very well. LS like ride quality, despite its size, quiet, powerful (383hp 0-60mph in the high 6s), unique (not too many on the road) Price: Just between the Range Rover HSE and SC! However, if money is no object: then it would be the X6M (FASTEST AND MOST POWERFUL SUV MONEY CAN BUY TODAY!!!) |

Though at present I would reckon that quattro+sportsdiff is the better option for spirited driving which has been universal agreed in all comparison testes when compared with a 335i equipped with x-Drive. |

personally i test drove an x5 4.8, cayenne s, and a range rover sport s/c and in the end i went for a cayenne s and absolutly love it!! only thing i regret is that i didnt get the optional air suspension which is a must if you want to enjoy the cayenne to its full capacity! now i am searching for a nice GTS or Turbo but if i can, i would def go for the Turbo S that thing is a monster!!

I was just thinking about this the other day and would second (or third) those that suggested the Landcruiser. That car is very capable and it's very reliable. That vehicle can go anywhere- anywhere!!
As others have mentioned the Lexus LX is just a dressed up Landcruiser. Both of them don't handle as well as an X5 or Cayenne but for real, crazy stupid fun, off road adventures, they are among the best. |

+1, The Range is one smooth and stable ride on and off road. Though the X6/5 M will win in the handling department, but I doubt those low profile tires will do any good in off road condition.

The brother's X6 is very good but I feel at times that it's slower to react to things in comparison to what my S5 would have been (i.e shifting the power to either axle), I don't know for why but in the Audi you never noticed the shift happening it was obviously that quick to react but in the X6 you noticed the rear wheels reaction, possibly that was the diff in action but even then I didn't get the same feeling from the S4 I drive with sportsdiff. Either way I think both systems will be a far better option in the snow than any rwd car could possibly be. |

Flame suit on here I guess, but I'm being serious. I honestly and truly don't understand the attraction to Land Rovers. They're junk. Horrible reliability, old technology, heavy, and floaty. Maybe they can go off road a bit, but how many people really take them off road. Pointless. I'd take a Land Cruiser or LX570 any day over any Land Rover for off road (and on road). On road and best handling? X5/X6 M. Maybe Cayenne Turbo.

If it's purely about the speed and the quicker SUV round the track then it's going to be the X6M for now, though next year the new Cayenne Turbo will regain that title ............with ease I might add.
But even the current Cayenne GTS is a sweeter car to hustle, better feeling of front end grip, sweeter control from the brakes which I might add last longer and a better composed ride. |
