AR design downpipes [Review]
First of all company is great, respond quick no matter what time day etc and help you through any questions you might have
so I was deciding on what downpipes to get and saw that these are different because they taper down to 2.5 later in the pipe than riss UR etc... so I figured for the same price why not go with what looks like the best in terms of performance well I made the right choice! installed - NO FITMENT ISSUES AT ALL!!!!!! went RIGHT on... I was amazed because all of these threads ive seen with fitment problems well theyre on now and I love them... it feels like I have alot more tq (noticeable difference) and the sound of the turbos spooling up is really nice I got the noncoated ones because I cant see the coating making any difference at all but if youre looking for catless DPs definitely go with AR design, you wont regret it

Looks good. I had almost given up on the project myself after seeing all the recent posts. "They're great - only had to grind away part of my transmission" "Aside from rubbing on my control arm I love them"

haha nah def no need for any of that
www.ardesign.info $699 for non coated dps (734 with shipping) and +$159 for the coated ones to be honest, no one will ever see them and IMO that heat coating is bullshit.. i wouldnt pay an extra 100-159 for coating no matter what company it is $699 non coated catless dps from ar design ftw

UR doesn't do the 3" claim and then taper to 2.5", URs are 2.5" all the way through which is more than enough for our cars.

I am thinking more and more about this mod myself. I just cant believe the prices companies are charging for these small SS pipes!! Good for them though - markup is probably around 500%. Wish I had that kind of markup when I was in the motorcycle business.....which brings up another point....dont know where they get their info but this line "Puts 6-7 lengths on E46 M3s at 5200ft altitude no problem, and even a length or more on 600cc bikes and a flash tuned + catback Audi RS6" is BS!!!
I am still thinking about these pipes myself but if they are talking about a modern 600cc sportbike then they are full of shit, either that or the guy on the sportbike had no idea what he was doing. Anyway - all that aside, good review and certainly a good option for this mod. |

Stock 600cc bikes are lucky to get into the 13s up here...... You should see what the twin turbo Vette does to street bikes The E46 M3 was a buddy of mine, and it was absolutely no contest, LOL........ I am not sure why so many people on here insist that our margins are so enormous. We aren't making these in China like some - they are 100% hand made right here in Denver from 304 Stainless. Each V-Band flange costs us $37, and each 2-bolt flange costs us $15. So you're talking over $100 in flanges alone. And on average 8-10 hours of labor per set. Then there is the cost of the 3" bends..... abrasives, argon, tungstens, filler, etc. Need I continue? Start adding all that up, and you will soon realize our margin isn't even close to 100%, much less 500%

Come on guys, it is not that hard to understand, if you remove your primary cats you will get a CEL eventually. Just buy some simms and be done with it.

Fair enough - Still sounds expensive to me. Wouldnt it be less expensive to bend the piping rather than welding it etc? I am sure you know what you are doing though and if there was a better way to do it you probably would. Like I said - I like the idea, I still say no chance in hell you beat me with me on a 600 and you in just about anything! LOL. Are you talking from a dead stop or rolling start? And I assume we are talking straight line speed right? Either way - I am not arguing the product or its gains, I am hoping to do it myself soon but when people start talking about beating motorcycles then I get defensive I guess. The power to weight ratio simply makes it very had to do. I personally race and ride 1000's but have had 600's in the past and there was nothing I even ran against even on a 600 that could accelerate faster up to about 140.

Nevermind - this answers my questions - "Stock 600cc bikes are lucky to get into the 13s up here...." I cant speak intelligently to how the bike would perform at that altitude so I will shut the hell up!
LOL. |

E90 - excuse the dumb question but I am new to looking into these downpipes and I am not sure what a SIMM is?? Can you perhaps point me in the right direction? I will do a search as well but the more info we can get the better. |

How will these catLESS DPs not throw a CEL? The CEL is triggered when a CAT is not there or not working as intended.

The bike theory I find hard to believe, but possibly I guess. I live at 7200ft in NM and I used to own a Kawi 636 (2006), I think my Bimmer would keep up, but I don't know if I could pull on it. Though I do have the XI model and my 636, was chipped, exhaust and intake, so this may be the difference.
