If you have to similarly equipped cars but one puts out 230hp and about 190/200lbs of torque vs one with 300/300 which one would you go with?
Check my profile. I bought a new last production month 328i e92 because that is the last time we get na 6 pot from BMW. I truly appreciate the refinement of this engine and it's a joy to push her hard or not. I had turbo cars for years and gotten tired of the turbo lag and character. I love to accelerate fast, but doing 0-60 in 5 vs 6 seconds is not a big difference compared to how it feels and sounds. 0-60 in under 3 seconds, now that's fast, and I love my sportbike for that.

For me, the fact that LCI e92 328i vs the same model 335i is lighter, revs higher and sounds better doing so, and on top of that is more reliable makes it better. Simple
LMAO what logic are you coming up here with. Yes the 328 weighs a bit less but has a weaker engine, both cars rev up to 7k, and a stock 335 sounds better then a stock 328. A 328 with a performance exhaust is another story but then again so is a 335.

There is virtually no turbo lag with the N55. And tuned 335s can do 0-60 in the 4.x second range. A 328 won't do that even with a supercharger.

There we go again... Sure they have a similar red line but the 328i actually loves to be there and can sing for hours, try that in 335i or any other turbo car
"sounds better" to an enthusiast means engine note, not so much exhaust. Power wise, 328i can be easily modded from 230 hp to 280's by swapping a 3 stage intake manifold, headers and tune for around $2500 with tons better reliability and sound than 335. SUpercharger from ESS is another option to get 300+ hp. But that's not the point, those are the options. Point is, refinement!

HAHA 280? WTF are you smoking.. I had the a Eurointake, BWM perf exhaust, 3 stage intake mainfold, a tune, and that probably put me in the 250hp range. Headers might get you another 15-20hp tops (and thats being generous). Maxed out you will be luck to hit 275hp (at the crank) and even with all that your torque will be no where near 275 though. Been there done that so please no need to school me.

And refinement can mean many different things to people when it comes to cars.

BMW was all about refinement regarding their 6 cylinders why they chose to stick with inline engines. 328, 330 and all the M cars stand for refinement minus the turbo cars. Don't want to make this a never ending thread, point is both 328i and 335i are great cars, but have different driving characteristics, and one being faster over the other DOES NOT MAKE IT BETTER!

Too bad all the M cars now are turbo charged as is the 328. I don't know about the 320 it might still be a NA but who would want to drive that shit.

BS. Base 330i makes 265 hp. 328i with DISA and tune is similar if not extra 5 hp because higher compression engine. Add headers and more aggressive tune and you hit 280's. But WTF, now you're arguing 6 hp?? Is that your goal, to freakin argue?

Stock e92 328i vs 335i will brake faster and put less stress on the car because it's lighter. Physics 101.

It's less than 200 pounds difference. You're a clown. If money was not an object, there is NO WAY you would take a 328 over a 335. Period.

No it does not a base 330 makes 255hp.

BMW 335 60-0 braking is about 109ft (and I believe that was on the E90), 328 is not close to those numbers.

You win. I'm a clown and you're a fortune cookie teller.

150 extra pounds over the front axle equates to a substantial weight increase affecting braking, steering, and over all driving dynamics.

All 330i built after 2007 and sold in Europe make around 260-270 hp. I took the average of the two, 265. They are detuned here to make a stronger case for the 335i. With the taxing in Europe not many 335s.

God you are a genius, how fucking old are you? The 330 production was only from 05-06. The EU 330 you are talking about has a N53 engine.

Your 0-60 is not accurate. NA E92 stock is lighter and brakes faster from any distance over stock turbo. On the track, the heavier turbo needs bigger brakes to make up for being a pig.

Re n53 - So you fall easy for the naming schemes. A lot is minor stuff, same engine basically. Do you want to know how big I am too?

Hence the bigger brakes, calipers, and rotors on the 335.

http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/t...x-vs-four.html

Here you go this is a comparison of the current 328 vs N52 based one. As you can see the stopping distance from 60-0 is 126 ft for the N52 328.

Yeah I guess N52=N54 in this case.

No the n53 is NOT the same as the N52 for starters it uses direct injection much like the N54/N55.
