Koenig are a well regarded tuning house..

The engine alone cost £35k!

Well respected they might be and I appreciate their engine tuning packages but their "styling" department need shooting for that monstrosity IMO, I've seen better looking products from Mansory.

And I still think a 30 year old Ferrari with a couple of turbo's strapped onto it and pushing an extra 100bhp+ is just asking for trouble.

You mean given that a 30 year old Ferrari is already asking for trouble

Well I did mention that in the original PH thread but apparently 30 year old Ferrari's are the epitome of reliability according to the PH sages and have the same running costs as a Fiesta

I on the other hand am not convinced and even less so that a modded one isn't asking for trouble. In fact if someone does buy it, I'd put money on it being an absolute money pit.

I had a non-Koenig (standard) 348 for a number of years as a weekend car.
Whilst it looked great and sounded awesome, dynamically it was hugely flawed (my Impreza I ran as a daily driver at the time could be driven twice as fast in every bend) and it was ruinously expensive to run.
I can only imagine that, with all that work done to it, this specific example takes all ownership elements of my car (both the good and bad) and multiplies them by ten....

Agreed.

Also, were Koenig ever "really respected"? As I recall, they were just one of a number of ostentatious tuning firms that cropped up in the excessive 80s and could turn a pretty Ferrari into a monstrosity and bolt a crude turbo onto it, without much finesse, as was reported back in the day. They certainly had no factory backing like Alpina does from BMW, for example.

A bit like ACShitzer - horrendously tacky crap that's horrendously over-priced.
