Service decisions

Hi there I live in hertford in hertfordshire and I was wondering if anyone can reccomend firstly any local garages or indy's that are reliable around this area ?

Secondly How often would you change spark plugs, oil, filter etc I dont know if there is a link to another thread that has been created with these topic but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

my 320i curently is telling me oil service 8000 left, but I did this exactly a year ago this month along with the air filter, brake fluid, so change now or later I have had differnet stories off of bmw and local garages but am starting to get lost lol.

i've done 67,500 ish miles so far.

many thanks in advance.

Come and see me www.a1bnspecialist.co.uk/ I'll look after you all I'd say is service wise oil should be changed every 10k or year ignore the on board data re this oil in these cars needs to be clean and thin as longevity wise your car will be compromised (vanos/eccentric shaft etc. to name but 2 items) But my golden rule oil every year 10k and don't ignore it.

Spark plug wise tough call I'd like to say to people change the plugs every 2-3 years trouble is if you don't do the mileage then the intervals can takes ages to show. But its your car care of your cars A1 in my mind so changing the plugs say every 3 years 30k isn't a bad move at all, brake fluid every 2 years air filter pollen filter etc. I'd again look at every 2 years but again the systems BMW use may differ from my personal feelings

Any issues call us on 01438 746046

Go and see Gary at Autobahn services in Rickmansworth. The fairest and most hardest working and knowledgeable indy I've ever known.

Thanks for the replies, funny enough Steve, I've booked my car in with you guys for next thursday morning at 10 already, my wife set up this thread before i told her i already booked it in with you guys at A1 lol, good to see you on here, mean i know i found a good local indy then.

Got another problem that i will need you guys to take a look at though washer jet aren't working propely, the water container is full and the motors are working but only a trickle of water is coming out

read it could be a blocked filter, but I'm sure you guys will sort it.

Ah yep she spoke to my boss micro filter I think and something else(let me know any other elements needed to be safe)the blocked filter re your washers would be my guess which is off side front wheel off and arch cover back, filters easy enough to sort out once access is gained. Flush the bottle out too to get rid of the gunk.

But cool see you Thursday let me know exact service requirements to be safe as I'll look at the service book when your with us to be 100% sure
