LOL, No, the stock tire size is not 255/35 it is 255/30 if you are talking about 19" inch wheels. If you are talking about the 18" wheels than the stock tire size is 255/35. I am talking here about 19" so the natural upgrade is not 265/35 but 265/30 on a 19" wheel. Please read before confusing 19 and 18" wheels together.

Your 275/30/19 measures 25.5"

The OP has more of the "natural upgrade" and less chance of rubbing than you because his tire is more narrow and not as tall. The "sketchy" ride might have simply been due to different tires.

There is no additional grip to be had in 265 vs 265 width tire. The contact patch width is identical. The BMW OEM 19" recommended tires size is 255/30/19 and if one wants to push the limits you can go with 265/30/19 or 275/30/19.

The 265/35 is a taller wheel with bigger sidewall that will rub when the car is full of passengers and luggage under full compression caused by dips in the roads or bumps. It can be remedied by rolling the fender and some people who ride solo most of the time might not experience rubbing or claim so.

Garage List
I just switched from Hancook Ventrus V12 to the Continental DWS and the rears do seem smaller, however, I am getting the opposite issue (than the OP) and there's rubbing in the front (fronts seem bigger). I have never run into this issue before.

Tire sizes are 235 35 19 (Front) and 265 30 19 (Rear).
