Thanks for posting the vid.

Give me the Porsche, and I'll show you the winner. The GTR might be faster, but I'd prefer rolling around in a 997.2 TT. This guy is a douche.

I can't wait for Chris Harris to test the 997.2 GT3 RS!

If the R8 didn't have brake failure, it probably would have been much closer. I also think he could have wrung more out of the Porsche. Oh well, GTR is still a great car although Nissan doesn't advise you do half the things seen here.

The GTR has so many electronic nannies that its supposed to be too easy to drive.

The 911 turbo is still fast as hell and more fun to drive. its also a porsche.

The r8 is a show stopper. and now that its got the v10 it can hang with the big guys

I could come up with petty excuses but it's clear the GTR is the fastest car for less than half the price. I'm not going to say that it's computers make it too easy to drive since even with those I couldn't take it to within 20% of it's limits.

Great car.

You clearly don't know who Steve Sutcliffe is. Chris is a really good driver but so is Steve.

coulda...shoulda....woulda.....the brakes FAILED!.....and they failed on just the second turn....EPIC FAIL!
GTR costs 50% less and it spanked the R8!

I honestly don't know what your problem is??????

Yes I would agree that the brakes fading so soon into the test was unfortunate but that is easily cured with the ceramics which are really necessary if you intend to track on a regular basis.

But did you actually listen to what was said about the R8, in Steve's opinion he felt that it would probably have been the quickest on the day with the right brakes and the right gearbox, plus it was the easiest to drive at the limit. To me that isn't a fail but an unfortunate spec choice by Audi on the car supplied.

P.S.
No one could possibly deny that the GTR is the knig when it came to value for money, it has shown all comers that they are all over priced for what you get.

Hope this doesnt turn into a GTR vs Turbo thread...

I always get a kick seeing long threads about this on 6speed, but in my own personal opinion....

I would go with the turbo

I'm very impress with nissan and even more now. this proves the stock nissan does indeed go around the ring under 7:30 as nissan claimed.

at half the price and porsche with 2 years to prepare, lighter, pdk, but still can't beat the gtr. i don't care what excuse it is some porsche nut huggers like to throw out now such as the porsche is better looking, etc. all it matter is the nissan is a monster.

next I'm sure some douche would compare the 997.2 gt3 rs to the gtr and declare the rs has more feel, etc. LOL

alot of people say give me the porsche, etc. seriously I think you are too into the badge. the gtr is not the prettiest girl in your class, but it is one serious big booty chick in town. get the badge out of your head and you have one hell of a car for half the price with the huge presence on the road. I watched the top gear australia and damn those lines of the gtr body at night is just menacing to look at.

Give credit where it is due. nissan done one hell of a job here and to have porsche improve their turbo with so much more performance stuff from the 997.1 turbo proves nissan accomplishment and porsche acknowledged the thread from nissan.

not to mention this is the updated porsche 2 years late to the party to dethrone the gtr. porsche must be scratching their head right now wondering what went wrong,

Totally agree with your opinion,

Geek picks the GTR
Poser picks the Turbo
and the rest pick the R8

Ferrari persevered even though the 911 was the "better value" but Porsche doesn't have quite the same allure and will find it more difficult to keep buyers interested when the R8 looks better and the GTR goes better.

And you can only take the classic looks so far. Even the newest version looks dated next to the modern marvels.
