Looking for strong patch or adhesive that will stick to a sidewall
It would only need to be a very temporary patch perhaps for a mile or so, just so I can get to the tire shop.
I had a bubble in the sidewall that I've been meaning to attend to, and it finally ruptured this afternoon- as you can see it's like a quarter inch slit in the center of the bubble and it's hissing etc. I tried 3M double-sided molding tape- no luck. Do automotive stores sell such a thing to simply patch a sidewall temporarily with a very strong Band-Aid like fix? |

Hoping the same tape I tried to use that I stuffed into the sidewall will do for now. I jammed in there pretty good- it should last a few thousand feet...I hope.
EDIT: super dumb idea...no way in hell that's holding... it's leaking already LOL To be fair, it is holding air with the shit double tape stuffed in the hole, and might just make it the trip one whole mile at a slow rate. Of course, I'm not really going to drive with a piece of double-sided tape stuck in the hole. I'm almost certain stuffing the patch in there will do the trick for the very short trip down the road. I test drove it down the block and up again and I still had plenty of air, even with the air hissing out of the hole with the double-sided tape in it. I do not condone anyone doing this type of asinine repair, and if it wasn't for the fact that I can drive extremely slow, and for a very short distance, I would not of attempted this at all, so cut me some slack. Someone please remind me why I went with non-run flats again? |

that tire-puncture kit won't work with a ruptured sidewall bubble.
honestly, I don't think you'll find any kind of tape that will stick well enough to that tire to hold 30-40psi. just take the wheel off the car, and use another vehicle to bring it to the tire shop. |

Yeah I hear you guys I was trying to avoid that if I could...even if I stuff something in there well enough I think I can jam one of those patches into the sidewall slit just to hold it over for 1 mile.

So I ordered both of these from Amazon- maybe I'll just plug then double up with a patch.
All I need to do is last five minutes at 30 miles an hour- wish me luck! |

Thanks for all the luck and well wishes
I think I can make it with the one-two punch of a plug and a patch with cement right over it. It literally is a three minute drive at 30 miles an hour right down the street road. I will be sure to post when I get there this Saturday morning. Thank you for the patch idea Sir Howard. Believe me I know you should never ever patch a sidewall damaged tire, but I honestly have no other choice, and no way to tow it to the location. Just say some prayers and send some well wishes As soon as I get there the tire is going in the garbage, believe me, and I'll just file another claim and get some reimbursement...AGAIN. |

Batman has no friends
But seriously though, all I'm doing is putting on my summer wheels and tires, and getting these beat up winters off. Believe me if it was a longer trip to be made at a higher speed, even if I was keeping the tires on, I would've definitely taken the advice to take the tire off and get it repaired. I had the appointment anyway, I simply hoped against all odds that the bubble would've held up just a few days longer...ah well... The patch and plug together should make a steadfast fix for a five minute trip. Thanks for all the feedback and ideas! |

I would just try Gorilla tape or Gorilla glue to get you to the shop. That said, nice redneck fix Yeah, I agree with one of the previous posts; they will not repair a slit or puncture to the side wall. GL bro!

Thanks brother! I was even thinking of injecting some badass gorilla cement glue right into the hole and let it sit for two days.
As I said, if it wasn't such a ridiculously short trip at a low-speed I would definitely have taken every other sensible suggestion in this thread without hesitation! |

None of those option will really work with a sidewall puncture, a patch has to be placed on the inside to hold. Patching on the outside will do nothing and it will come off as soon as the tire flexes. You can do it and will most likely make it there riding on the rubber of your tires, but if you are particular about your car and don't want to take the chance of rashing your rims up, i would just get out there take your tire off and get it repaired........

Yeah I figured as much titanium, but personally they're my 18" stock rims, and they're already pretty beat up from this rough winter we had.
Had it been my 19 inch summer wheels, well then, that would've been a different story my friend. |

Oh no doubt bro that's exactly what I intend to do Saturday morning- summer tires and wheels are going on, winter tires are going in the scrapheap!

I was just toying with extremely temporary ideas. I'm sure the plug will hold for a short while- literally minutes. |
