2008 E93 - Changing tail light bulb

Want to change the tail brake light bulb on the body (not on the trunk) of a E93. All the videos that I found online are for E90s.

Here is what I have done so far.

1. I've opened the trunk
2. removed the black giant plastic screw
3. Removed the gray plastic covering to reveal the white plastic block with all the bulbs
4. Removed 2 black torx screws
5. Removed the indicator bulb by rotating the module counter-clockwise
6. Removed the black connector

Now, the white bulb block is loose and im able to pull it out slightly, but it won't come out fully, coz its inside this cavity and I am not able to wiggle it out of the cavity. It always hits the sides and stays inside.

Is there a DIY video/post about this, specifically for an E93? Thanks!

I haven't done it myself on the E93 but I've changed a bunch of bulbs on BMWs. It's usually deceptively easy.

Looking at the Pelican Parts site, it looks like you should be removing a panel with several bulbs on it.

Last time I changed a bulb I removed the whole light cluster from the car (3x nuts?) before removing the bulb block.
I think I've done the same as you in the past and managed to remove the bulb block without removing the cluster from the car first, but it was very tight even after removing the internal boot liner.

@wdb Unfortunately, that's for an E90. The E93 is different from that and has 2 black screws and a few other changes.

I went out and looked at mine. You're right, the block is held in with 2 screws. The whole assembly appears to be held in by 3 nuts so removing it as suggested earlier might be the way to go.

I had the same issue had to remove the whole back light for the white circuit board holding the bulbs to come out. I had to change the whole rear cluster as my cluster had a fault, hopefully urs is just one of the bulbs that can be replaced else its either a new led circuit board from dealer or a cluster. Good luck

bizzleb109 wdb Thanks! I removed the whole light and was able to access the bulbs! Thanks so much!

Now the next challenge is to actually remove the bulb. It doesn't seem like a twist out bulb, it seems to be held by black clamps on the side. Am so worried that I will snap it off, is there a trick to remove them? The bulb is inside a black housing which is soldered to pins underneath.

bizzleb109 My turn indicator light still works, so hopefully its just the bulbs.

bizzleb109 Which bulb did you end up using? Strangely, I cannot find the right bulb for the tail light on pelican parts or fcpeuro

Pre LCI E93 taillight builds are soldered into the board. Would need to replace the entire circuit board.
