Here is a guy who's warranty was voided due to his SSTT and a manipulation code. I bet he wished the BT cable had been out...

This isn't rocket science. It takes so much fuel to support so much boost. If you are not adjusting the fuel pressure the ECU can keep tabs on that fuel. So the more boost the higher the risk. 3.5psi is higher risk than 2.75psi. 2.75psi is higher risk than 1.75psi. Pick your poison, or pony up $287 for a BT cable.

Great news!

I believe the title of your thread is misleading. Certified by who? And not to worry about thrown codes is BS. Like the man says above, if your worried about codes buy a BT or spend more and get a Rev.2 Procede.

To be fair Mike, he had the SSTT still installed along with DPs. Service tech saw the DPs and O2 sims, opened the ECU cover and found the SSTT. He did have codes though but that is not peculiar to the SSTT is it?

Frankly if we are going to have to remove CAIs to visit the dealership, DPs are going to present a bit of a problem for anyone.

I'm almost thinking the whole HPFP issue is purposefully implemented to prevent us tuning

Yes but I think the only reason people with JB+ are seeing codes is due to the fact that they are looking for them.. I highly doubt many SSTT users have purchased a BT tool. The JB+ and SSTT are similiar in most aspects, there is only so much you can do with a TMAP tune. So if JB+ is seeing a code on a car @ +3.5, the car will also show a code with the SSTT @ +3.5. Am i wrong?

Looks like whomever cleared the "SSTT" ought to have their certification credentials revoked!

Exactly. At least with the JB+ you can dial the boost down as low as +1.75psi if it helps you sleep at night. Out of around 70 cars now scanned with the JB+ at the default setting we've seen detection codes in 3, and in one of those when deleted they never came back. Indicating installation issue. Waiting on the other two.

Stop pulling numbers out of your ass. There have been SSTT that have thrown codes and CELs. Would you mind doing some research on 1Addicts/e90/Bimmerfest/etc...? Not many, up until recently, has been looking themselves for the codes because they did not have access to BT cable / GT1 to use on the SSTT. Also, just because it doesn't throw a CEL doesn't mean it throws codes.

Holy Cow! I think you need a boost controller to modulate your emotions. I will send you a PM with an attached sense of humor. Seriously - both the SSTT and the JB+ are great products and are supported by great people. I have chatted numerous times with both Jeff and Terry and really like both of them. Terry's customer service is second to none. I guess the point I am trying to make is that there is no equivalent of consumer reports for tuning products so we have to rely on marketing and questionable anecdotal evidence for information. I think we do know the following about the SSTT and JB+: (1) Both products basically do the same thing, (2) At equivalent boost levels they probably both offer equivalent performance, (3) the JB+ is cheaper but the SSTT price will probably come down and the SSTT 11 will most likely have boost control like the JB+, (4) the JB+ has thrown codes but people are looking for them, (5) there have been few if any reports of codes thrown by the SSTT either by CELs, BT scans or problems at the dealer and the SSTT has been on the market for a very long time, and (6) the SSTT has boost protection and overheat power cut off functions which may account for the lack of thrown codes. I am not sure if the JB+ has these functions as well. It is a great time to own a 335i with all the available tuning choices. I would be happy to own either product with the edge going to the JB+ at the current price points and the boost control function.

Getting 70 29.2+ cars scanned out of 400 units sold was no easy task! But if you search you'll find several SSTT triggered detection codes as well. Like the one I linked. You seem to want to ignore them for reasons unknown? The JB+ has temperature and over-boost protection. And for the price difference you can buy a JB+ AND a BT cable. So whatever floats your boat.

The op was banned, i think he mentioned he contact Split Second, thed company that makes the SSTT, and they told him that it DOEST NOT trip any codes, then again this thread is old and things might have changed since.
