So I bought my car about two years ago as a CPO, and now I'm about to hit 90k miles on the stock suspension. I really hate the ride feel of the e90 335xi. So my question is, is it too late to use lowering springs for the stock suspension? I know the best thing is to go for a coilover set but just wondering if springs can still be done instead?

I was at 70k on my stock XI suspension and I just replaced it last month with coilovers. Best decision I ever made; night and day difference for daily driving.

Which coilovers set did you go with. Do you have e90 335xi ? And how much ?

I have a 328xi touring and just installed KWV1 that I'd had in the garage for a year. I'm kicking myself for waiting: what a ride.

Bimmerman_87, I have an '08 e90 335xi.

I ended up going with a set of KW V1's from Turner. Think it was $1485 shipped and just over $300 installed w/ alignment.

You might be able to find them for cheaper, but they were pretty evenly priced every where I remember looking. Keep an eye out this weekend though, might find some Labor Day sales.

Are there other options for coilovers? I've ridding in the KWs on a friend's 328 and it was rather harsh...compared to a stock 335i w/ 17k miles on the odometer.

If you are going to keep the car at least a year or two more than install coilovers. I've been very happy over the last four years (25,000 miles) with my KW-V1s...never required adjustments or alignments, and I've hit plenty of potholes here in Philly. Also invest in lightweight wheels and tires...that'll make the car quicker and stop better, as well as corner better...much less unsprung weight. And use non run flat summer super sport tires - not the all-season runflat crap. All in all, I've eliminated about 10 lbs per corner using Apex wheels and Michelin PSS tires.

I'm in the same boat, 87k w/ xi suspension. I would love to get coilovers but not ready to spend $1500+. Isn't there a Bilstein replacement shock that could be replaced to help stop the jarring & help out w/ the ride quality? But then would the springs needs to be replaced? I know the KW-V1s are what everyone raves about Just not sure if I'm gong to have the car for another 2 yrs

If you know for sure you are getting rid of the car soon and won't be spending any "quality drive time" in it then don't waste money on mods that you can't transfer to your next car or sell. Two years. 700 days. Lots of interesting roads to cover in that time. Maybe it's worth the $1500?

Mine lasted to ~95k before I thought I was driving a pogo stick. I had no damper control at all. Decided to pick up KW V1s from Tiago@VRSF, great price, I think it was about $1100 shipped after the $100 rebate from KW. Installed by Clem for about $300.

Totally worth it, revived my ride into a completely different beast. IMHO it's still worth it at $1300 or $1400 if you're going to keep the car.

yah i had about 84k when i replaced mine they were done lol. they are well worth it i got it for about 1160 with 100 rebate. ride is better than stock firm but not harsh i love it.

Same, it's like night and day. You can push the car more aggressively into corners and it won't snap at you.

I dont think so. i think it was for july just in case I confused people i got them for 1260 then had 100 rebate that takes some time to come. i still didnt get mine yet it should be coming soon though

By hate do you mean the way it handles? Too soft or hard? A little before hitting 90k I put on KW V1, the ride is stiffer and on bumpy roads it gets quite rough. I don't mind but that's just me. I hear with springs the ride is a little softer. As for it being to late, I never hear of any horror stories with the shocks giving out on springs

I'm a about to hit 94k miles on it. The car feel uncontrollable, if there's is road that have harsh pavement the car seems to pull in different directions... Does that mean my oem suspension is done? I can't believe how bad this suspension is, my first car was scion Tc and even that had a better suspension lol (sad but it's true)

Springs are not really going to help the ride feel or the fact that it's pulling in different directions. Could be alignment, may need new suspension, bushing, etc. or some combination of. Really depending on what's worn down. take it a trusted BMW shop (or if you are still under CPO, have dealership take a look) and they can tell you what needs to be replaced. I doubt that any of the worn parts are under warranty though. 94K is a little short for the lifespan for suspension, depending on how the car was driven. Good luck!
