SCCA T2 Build E92 M3 (UPDATE TO NASA GTS-4)
UPDATE. THE CAR IS NOW BEING BUILT FOR NASA GTS-4
We figured we better post our race car build where the track guys hang out Its coming close to race season and our E92 M3 is getting read for some wheel to wheel action with our first race in May! We just finished up the roll cage and currently working on fitting the dashboard and making the beauty panels. When we first started this build it was in November and we have been slowly getting ready (Customers always first!) What is unusually about this build is we will be removing most of our modifications (from when it was a street car) and only keeping the JRZ triple adjustable struts/shocks. Due to the SCCA T2 rules the E92 M3 is not allowed modifications yet, or even upgraded springs and brakes (we can upgrade to stainless lines and upgraded fluid and pads) . We are allowed to upgrade the struts/shocks and so is any other car in class, as long as they keep the stock location/mounting points and stock springs. For our class some of the E92 M3 restrictions are we must weigh at least 3700lbs with driver after the race is over. 18x10 max wheel size for front and rear. Max tire size of 295/35/18 A few goodies have been coming in such as our fire extinguisher system which is pretty cool because it is a push button style release instead of pull. What it used to look like as a track day car. JRZ SUSPENSION WE ARE RUNNING Interior completely stripped out ROLL CAGE Last edited by VSmotorsports; 06-01-2012 at 05:25 PM.. |

Awesome!!! Just curious, is this more for aesthetic purpose? I was prepared to turn my Prelude into HC H2 car (which I still haven't finished ) a few years ago, I actually cut out the inner sheet metal and left only the outer skin and whatever is necessary for the door latch mechanism. So the doors were very light.

We have been working hard to get a group of cars done for this weeks Nasa event, so we have not had as much time to work on our car. One of the things you will notice is our color choices for the E92 cage and panels. We always try to stay true to the BMW brand, so our color choice for the cage is interlagos blue. Our trunk block off and beauty panels are painted frozen black. Our goal is to have this car completed by this Thursday to start our testing. We will try hard to keep this thread updated. Thank you for your patience.

Really T2 you can only run stock springs... wow. Looks good though over all. What tire are you guys running or is there a series spec tire?

We are running BFGoodrich R1s tires as they sponsored our car and we ran faster times with the R1s on our E46 than the Hoosier A6. So we are excited to see how they are on the E92 chassis. |

The car is coming along great and very close to being done. Here are some pictures when we took it to Autobahn Country Club last week. The vinyls will be going on the week of May 7th! |
