Forge DV's Backward?
so i was just wasting time as usual and came across a post that has the DV's put the opposite way as i do on the car. I have had them on for about 6 weeks now and havent noticed any problems or CEL/SES issues. assuming i do have them in backward, did i do any harm to the car? im gonna go take a picture now and throw it up. oh and they are on a steet pipe.

OP: your DVs are fine....
happy4nk8er: It looks like you are using a different type of DVs than the ones that Forge propose for 335i.

Not sure, this is what Stett provided on their Charge pipe with DV's, I think they have quite a few of then out. Have not installed mine yet waiting on the meth kit.

The difference between them might be that there are two kinds of forge DVs, ones that are made for the charge pipe, and ones that are meant to just replace the stock DVs. That could be the answer? I'm not sure I don't have either :P

That is correct, the DV that are made for the 335 have the nipples coming out of the side... The "universal" DV is the one that has the nipple on the top. |

they will work either way in reallity. The Froge ones that are designed to fit the connectors on the N54 Charge pipe fit the opposite way to most standard installations. Any standard DV being fitted using hose adaptors can be fited the "normal" was as the OP has done. Some other cars have them fit like the N54 Forge ones too due to space restrictions.

For this version of DV's that is the correct setup. I have the same set on my car.

*** Edit - Just noticed you said you have the stett pipe, so the below may not apply.
Yeah - here is a picture of how the old N54 version should look (you have the old version). Below that, there is the new version for the N54. On the new one the vacuum port is fixed and not adjustable. On the old one you could adjust them as talked about on page 4, iin the Forge install instruction pdf on their site: http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/FMDVN54.pdf |

So to get a solid answer, i emailed Forge directly. The picture attached was post 1 and post 8 of this thread. Here is their answer:
Rick, those valve, and most valves for that matter, will work in either orientation. Patrick Robles Forge Motorsport T- 407.447.5363 F- 407.447.5361 www.forgemotorsport.com From: ***** ***** Sent: Sunday, April 04, 2010 1:19 AM To: service@forgemotorsport.com Subject: question on forge dv's I had bought a stett charge pipe that came with your forge dv’s. Previously I had bought your forge dv’s for an E90 bmw 335i that was a factory replacement. The question I have is are my current ones installed properly? I’ve attached a picture of the charge pipe and the dv’s installed. It looks like the piston is facing the wrong way but I’d like to get your input. Thanks |
