Question Online shopping with credit card

Hi, I have never bought products on the Internet, how can I make a purchase in online stores, ebay, Amazon and other. I saw that for the purchase i should to enter info and cvv, how safe is it? do they call or send sms for confirmation? How does it work with large amounts of $ 1000 and more? is it necessary to send a photo id? and can I make a refund?

Reputable sites are safe. Are they 100% hack proof, no. So if you want to be extra cautious don't have the site save your credit card info.
Yes you have to enter the CVV no way around that and it's safe.
Amazon will not contact you for a $1k purchase. I don't know how large the purchase has to be for them to call and verify. You will never be asked for a photo ID, which is pretty easy to fake anyway.
Yes you can get a refund.

Always pay with your credit card and not a debit card. Your bank will cover your ass if someone would get your card info and go on a spending spree.

If you are worried about getting your CC hacked or compromised then never use it in public offline. It is much more likely a waiter/waitress will scan your info or a scanner at a gas pump etc. The last three times my main CC info was stolen was one of these ways according to my CC company.

Like others said always use a CC and not a debit card and just be diligent about checking your statements etc.

If you are really worried you could get https://www.lifelock.com or a service like this.

I wouldn’t sweat it. If it’s used fraudulently, you report it as such, charge taken off. End of story. Very easy. I don’t use debit cards, but no worries on credit card.

Just use a CC, not a debit card. The chargebacks in debits are way harder to do than CC

I never use my debit really for anything especially online. I run everything everywhere through my amex. I have had one issue a few years back and amex was on it within a heart beat.

This was my experience with AmEx as well. Also the other 2-3 times with my Visa it was taken care of very easily as well.

I didn't have a CC for years. Only used my debit for everything. I was hacked 3 times and my wife once Bank of America took care of it every time; been with them for 9yrs or so now.

I don't know if OP is serious... But I'll bite.

You can turn on account alerts and you will get a text message everytime your cards is used. You'll know right away if it's been compromised.

I’d still rather they have access to the banks money than my own if I can help it.

I'll show you how to make purchases online... Just post your CC number here, along with your expiration date and cvc number from the back of the card... Also your billing zip code...

So simple, even a noob can do it... Or a troll... either or...

I have my credit card notifications set to sms me after any card not present transaction (online) that way I can call right away and report it.

No point trying to prevent anything. Just be smart and monitor your accounts. If any fraud happens it will be reversed, usually no questions asked because they can tell what transactions are most likely fraud.

PayPal might be a good way to start shopping online. Most big places accept it and this way you don’t have to give out your info to multiple sites.

Why don't you cash his checks for him then? I'm sure it'll be for a higher amount so you can keep the difference for your troubles...
