BMW Performance Exhaust
Has anyone installed and thinks its too quiet ?
It sounds great when you fire up the car 1st thing in the morning but I find its not intrusive when you drive it around. It has a nice sound as you approach the red line but you need to have the windows down to appreciate the quality of the sound ! |

Well, the sound benefit isn't really for the driver, is it?
A BMW is a refined car - engineered for a quiet cabin. I'm happy to leave an impression on those I drive past, but I'd rather have the sound in the cabin limited to my music or conversation. |

The PE is plenty loud outside, almost so much so that I'm surprised it is an OEM piece. The issue is with your sedan. On an e91 the sound inside is quite loud. Maybe you could drive around with one of your rear seats folded down?

Most people who hear mine don't believe it's OEM (unless they are BMW owners). It's properly loud from the outside and can be heard. I had a friend following me last night (330 with muffler delete) and he could hear mine with the windows up.

I put another 100 miles or so on the car today and gave it several red lines, the exhaust has become louder than before, I think it does need heat cycles and miles to break the sound in properly

Drone: I can't speak for his, but I have 0 drone. There's no shadow of a doubt that this is full OEM quality. This is the 100% drone free exhaust. Outside volume: I know for a fact that mine is fairly loud. 335's with catless downpipes and exhausts can hear me when I get on it. Pop/gurgle: the muffler delete does it almost every shift. Mine does it SOMETIMES, but is not audible unless the windows are open. I also have a tune, and this seems to be common with tuned cars + PE. Untuned, the PE is supposed to pop/gurgle. Hope this helps.

It's loud, just not from the cabin.
I had to haul a linoleum floor in my trunk one time and has to put my rear seats down and leave my trunk open for the floor to fit. Then I truly realized just how beautiful the PE sounds. It almost seems intrusive to me from that point on. Try it, you'll notice. |

Hey how do you open the back seats? Do all e90s do it? It could come in handy for work.

I was deciding between Performance exhaust and Eisenmann race. Heard them both but I liked more Eisenmann and went with it. I dont regret it at all, the sound it makes is really good. On the other hand, it has same issue as performance exhasut. From inside of cabin its not loud as i tought it would be. With windows rolled down or in tunnels it sounds really good. I guess our cars have good sound isolation and our engines just cant sound loud like 335 or strogner ones with performance exhasuts. As I already said I am happy with eisenmann and if I was to chose again I would make same decision.

The best thing about the performance exhaust is that it doesn't intrude inside the cabin on regular driving....

+1 It is loud enough you can hear your exhaust, but quiet enough you can still hear your engine.

I have a wagon and its still quiet driving around, but then I have also read that it takes about 5k miles to reach its optimum sound.
I do think that the PE combined with the Euro intake (and K&n) makes the engine smoother but also has a crisp racing sound from 5k rpm onwards ! |

I had it on my previous E90 and liked it so much I did it again on my new E90. Everyone has different taste though.
