I bought my '07 335i a little over a month ago with 82k. I was fine with the "higher" mileage because of the price (it was good with all of the options I have) and it was under CPO for the last 3 weeks I owned it. The previous owner got all of their maintenance done at a BMW dealer. I have a 6MT and even the clutch is fine. You can get good deals on early 335s with 70-80k and I think that people should definitely hop on those prices as long as they're careful and look at the service records and thoroughly inspect the car before you buy it. EDIT: This all being said, look for cars that are running out of a CPO if you're looking for a budget buy. Most likely the work has been taken care of up to that point and you shouldn't inherit a bunch of problems |

do you really think the e36 engine would be that much more reliable at 170k+ than a sub-100k N54? This is a legitimate question. I understand that boosted cars are by nature more unreliable |

Umm Doesn't like oil changes at BMW. for some reason when they change the oil the lifters drain and it sounds like crap for 1,000 miles.
Its running ok now but its had alot of work done to it. Since Jan 2012 Parts needed to keep running. Valve cover Gasket, Oil Filter housing Gasket, Water pump and thermostat, Mechatronics Sleeve, Battery, New Shocks and springs (old shocks worn) Replaced both Lower control arm bushings Sway bar bushings, Spark plugs, 6 injectors due to staying open (4 needed replacing over 3 month replaced them all) Parts used to cure leaks and what not Moon roof seal, Door seal, Done all fluid changes including Transfer case, front + rear diff and tranny, coolant, brake and plenty of oil changes. |

190,000 very reliable miles here.
2006 335i coupe manual (UK car). Its still on original turbos, clutch and suspension! But its time for some refreshing as have decided to keep it long term. |
