Buying a tire with similar tread.

im having trouble looking for a replacement tire for my 255 35 18 tire due to a bubble in my rear tire. I know that AWD has to have precise tread wear but I was wondering whether if I could get a tire which has 1-5% tread difference with the same axel. Would that still cause damage to my drivetrain?

thanks

I've swapped a tire that was probably approaching 10k miles difference on the other side.

No issue.

At some point though, the difference becomes large enough that the existing healthy tire probably could be replaced anyways.
