325i doesnt have enough power!!
i have 325i e92 2008 and i feel it must have more power, someone told me that he will upgrade the computer and this will give the car an extra 18 HP, so are 18 hp good and will make a difference ?
and he offered me a package of exhausts, filters , and another thing i cant remember in addition to the computer that will add about 50 hp, he told me that i will get a huge difference, is that right ? |

Engine software upgrades won't give you 18hp. 10hp at best. All of those mods combined might give you 20hp which isn't bad but you'll spend a lot of money getting there. I'm guessing since you have a 325i coupe that's it's a 2.5L engine and not the US spec 3.0L. Software will improve throttle response and the rest will mostly make it sound better (depending on what you buy).

Buy a 335 if you wanna go fast.
The 325 sure is good on gas I was getting 31 mpg on the highway in my old 06. It's a great car but just isn't very fast and nothing you do is going to make much of a difference. So leave it alone and enjoy the ride, IMO. |

I'm fine with my 325i. It has enough power to overtake during my daily commute.

Things to make your 325i go faster:
3 Stage Intake Manifold (from the 330i) Get a high-flow air filter High-flow exhaust (perhaps BMW Performance Exhaust) High-flow catalytic converters or you can cut them out. Catless Headers (Exhaust Manifold) DINAN Throttle Body ECU Tune.... all this [together] will perhaps give you anywhere from 50-60bhp increase but will cost you a pretty penny. |

325i in euro or other markets could be a different engine.
Check that you have a n52 engine or n53 Euro 325i with n52 should come with the DISA intake manifold, so some tunes could bump it to n52 330i / 130i levels Euro n53 325i will need to swap to 330i n53 intake manifold, and with a tune could make 270hp

I don't know what engine he has but our stage 2 with manifold swap got a 40+ Hp gain...I didn't Dino but my car is faster than my brothers 330i which has 255 Hp

Can you explain to me what the catless headers do for the car? As well as what kind is our there for the e90s. Also specific high-flow air filters? I have a 325i and i got an AFE Intake as well as the BMW PE. I will be getting the 3 stage intake manifold from my sisters car soon. |

Since you are in Jordan. I would imagine labour is cheap and you don't have emission tests. The cheapest way to get more power quickly would be to have a shop cut out all 4 catalytic converters and replace it with straight through piping. That should be good for 20-25 WHP. It will also increase your gas mileage. Your car will be a lot louder and you might not like the sound but you could add additional resonators if you want to keep it quiet. You will need a simulator. Something like the BMS downpipe fix so you don't get a check engine light. An engine tune will also benefit you. Also, don't forget about lighter wheels and tires. Something like apex arc8's would shave a lot of weight at the wheels and make your car faster in corners and in general. |

Sounds like the 2.5L since it's an N52. Your engine has a 2-stage intake manifold already so going to a 3 stage won't yield any benefits. As others have stated, removing the cats tuning the car to run without them would give you the highest gains. 40-50hp seems optomistic though.

sorry but i dont know what is the cats and what is the main function of it ( are they something in the exhaust so it will make the car sounds louder ? ) ,,,, another question will i have any problems or the car will need more service ... if i make any tuning to the car ? or changed the exhausts ?
thanks all |

The cats are short for catalytic converter. It's part if your exhaust that helps reduce emissions like carbon monoxide. The downside is it restricts airflow through the exhaust and reduces power. Removing it will increase power but cause a lot of back spot to form up your bumper above your exhaust.

I guess it is a finishing touch to a Tune where Valvatronic is changed if you are set on the idea: Find a used/salvaged TB and send it to maxbore.com , I spoke to him he is able to do it( had one customer in the past)

i have seen the mixed reviews on the Dinan TB too but i cant imagine it would be a loss to install it... i would most definitely blame it on some other mod for the loss of power.
i would probably add this if i had absolutely nothing else to do to the engine, short of installing a stroker kit and/or supercharger. There is a member in the 1er section who retrofit an E36 M3 intake manifold onto his N52 (six individual throttle bodies)... supposedly bumped him up to 315whp and still Naturally Aspirated. :/ this is something i definitely want to do but no installation thread or reviews on the process (either that or i just cant find it) |

Catless headers from south African 330i racer Race ecu valvetronic locked at full tilt, to use the e36Itb custom cams E87 bmw race spec exhaust Probably different fuel injection. So at best we can mimic only exhaust, headers and valvetronic remap via a tune.
