313m Wheels Stolen

Bastards stole the wheels off my 3 week old car two nights ago!!

Car is sitting on bricks from a neigbours driveway, soo pissed off . Its starting to rain so the brake discs are going to get rusty, need to sort a cover out.

Even though I'm insured (they are trying to wiggle out as per usual) its a massive pain, the wheels are on worldwide backorder and may not be in for up to 9 weeks.

I live in quite a nice area, and the police have told me they will be back!! They told me that they have been to a guy in St. Albans that has had the same wheels stolen 3 times!!!!

what locking nuts you got?

Have you got Mcguards? they have a funny shape "key" that isn't as easy to replicate.

Did you have the "standard" nuts that are in a multispoke fashion, these are dead easy to get off.

BMW sell the Mcguard nuts that in black for £35, cheaper than Hellfrauds too.

Time for a CCTV camera maybe?

I had two sets of McGards on my Golf R32 - the thieves who tried and failed to nick my wheels twice kicked two panels in instead - £3k in damage, insurance double because I committed the heinous crime of claiming.

It's a very tricky one - I suggest finding secure parking or getting a large and angry looking dog.

That's not good.

What feeble excuse is your insurer trying on to weasel out?

Just had the standard that came with the car 3 weeks ago, when i get everything replaced eventually i will get four different sets and make it as difficult as possible for them!

Apart from the wheels missing there wasn't a scratch on the car, they were really professional. The car is parked 10 yards from our ground floor apartment which is in a block of 6 others, that is in the middle of a development of more apartments and houses, no noise no alarm nothing.

I have been laying into the resident comittee about security, they are a bunch of old farts and all they seem to care about is the quality of the rhododendrons and whos parking in whos space!!!

Well its a bit of a technicality and clerical error that my broker gave them my old address and the incident happened overnight at my new address, and also there are trying to say something about the V5 being registered to BMW finance and not me!

Hopefully my broker will earn his money and sort it out! If not they are getting sued which our company have done before and won!

Thevies, have they no honour?

For me I live in the sticks, I'm not so worried about this type "overnight" theft. I got the Mcguards to save my wheels from an opportunist theif that thought they would have a go.

Hope no "planned" attacks come at my car.

rs - at the time, R32 wheels were hot property because they could easily be fitted to any Golf. Some had their bumpers and rear valances nicked too.

Also now live in the sticks with almost zero chance of theft (middle of nowhere, 1 in 3 gradient long drive the only way to get here, got a dog, etc) and I must say it's a huge relief.

Citys + nice cars = lots of worry

So sorry to hear about this...I've been a victim of this too, although it was good few years ago!

I hope your broker sorts out this shambles and gets you a non-fault claim as technically it wasn't yours. The locking nuts did not do their job!!!!

As for the wheels on fleabay, are they the same tyres your car came with? Even if they didn't, I'd inform the police right away. As if you were to contact the chap and they were stolen, the seller might get suspicious and end the auction. It could also be the case that the seller is genuine...either way no harm in trying.

Good luck..

Bad luck Deano. Hopefully things get sorted out quickly.

Those wheels are freakin' gorgeous.

Why don't they stamp an ID on alloys, like the rest of the car is coded???

The eBay seller listed those wheels on the 14th before the OP's were stolen and don't look as though they've ever been on a car. Not everyone on eBay is a crook.

Of course they're not....but in this case it was worth investigating. However, as you correctly state the theft and listing on ebay make it unlikely.

In that case, I might just call the guy up as new tyres cost that alone

yep obviously not them and the only other ones on ebay that i could see were in Scotland so its unlikely they were yours, but worth keeping an eye on ebay for a few weeks, the scum might wait for the dust to settle before selling them.

good luck with getting some replacements sorted
