Some novigation issue
First of all - thanks all to this forum who shared their time and bandwidth.
Not complaining at all - just observation. I get sometimes wrong navigation instruction in my area, witch never happen with previous version. I driving south on main street to 101 fwy (see pic ) with intention to go West on 101 FWY. This main street has entrance to 101 to both direction North/West and South/East. New disk give me instruction to turn left, go East for 2 ml, then turn right, go South and enter 101 FWY one entrees East from street I driving on. This happen twice. It's like system think that this entrance is close and trying to redirect me to near entrance. Again - I'M NOT WINING - just my observation of new disk.

Welcome to INav.. BMW Style.
As much as I love my car, the reality is.. BMW dropped the ball with the Nav system. My car will tell me all kinds of routes that just don't make sense. Worse was, on the NJ Turnpike.. heading to DC.. Nav is telling me to get off every exit and get back on. Nice. You spend 2 grand on a system and this is what you get. I know BMW reads this. Do something about it. In 2012 when I look for my next car, I will also be looking at Audi. Hopefully before then, BMW does something to make this right. Always motch |

from what I read - one of the best built-in navigation in Acura and Lexus. Audi is nice car - but you will pay $3k for MMI (Audi navigation and entertainment unit), and owners of Audi with NAVY complain about their navigation on Audi forums.

Thanks MB..
So the question to BMW would be- Why are your cars (which are second to none (IMO)) being sold with a second string Navigation system, compared to Acura and Lexus?! Always Motch |

IN the last 3 yrs cost of portable navigation go down 80%, and they get better POI and update their maps at list twice a year. Why Audi, MBZ and Audi (most expensive navigation $3K) -charge their customers up to $2K, with for 4 yr. old POI and update cost .... price of new First class port navi, that has a BT and MP3 player built in?????

But, I wouldn't say the difference was large. The BMW system has all of the features of the Acura system, and is only slightly harder to program. In any case, BMW did work hard to address the limitations of the earlier generations of the nav and, IMO, they have mostly succeeded.

I do think BMW made a mistake by moving from NavTeq to TeleAtlas for their nav database in 2009+, and I thought I'd *never* say that. I think the maps may need several revisions to get it right. FYI, whole categories and major chains were missing from the initial release. Still, my 2010 maps tell me to drive thru a wall to get home!! Some steps fwd, some back.
