Angel eyes bad for car?

I recently installed some aftermarket angel eyes on my e92 328i. When I took it to the dealer, my service adviser said to take it out of the car immediately. He claimed that aftermarket angel eyes can short out the harness, and that it is a very costly repair. I did research and have not found anything on that, but can you guys confirm? If brand matters, these are the exact ones that I purchased.

Thanks.

I have the white version of these from the same vendor. They look great and my SA didn't say a word about them when my 07 e92 went in for service last month. Now, if you have the Blue version, you may be Bear meat depending on the vehicle codes in your area. Here in FL they're a one way ticket to the pokey!

Sounds like the SA is just trying to cover himself. LED upgrades have been around for a while and actually run at less power and less temperature output than the factory halogen bulbs. With that said, stick with a proven brand when you upgrade.

In all seriousness, you should not have a problem with that angel eye kit. Of course, as with any mod, you effectively void the warranty associated with the part you updated. The dealer can try to blame any headlight issues on your angel eye kit.

Like was said previously, they dont cause problems. But like anything, they COULD cause a problem. If you were to have a problem, they can deny any warranty work on your headlights because you modified them. They could also deny work on your electrical system. With all great things comes great responsibility.

Your SA isn't per say BSing you. He is to an extent telling the truth....although we don't like hearing that truth. AE upgrades don't have a history of causing problems unless you go with a crappy brand.

I've had LED AEs in my car for over 2 years and they're also wired to my driver's side footwell light and cigg lighter socket for "welcome lighting" and DRLs, respectively.

No problems for the past 4 months and no errors.

Would that be the same with the simple $20 GP Thunders that are simply just replacement bulbs?
