anyone tried this? looks like a neat solution for people with no Bluetooth, i'm currently using the BB gateway and love it but wouldn't mind the calling functionality with this either. |

I just ordered a Blackberry Gateway online for my 2006 E90 to work with my Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) phone thru A2DP stereo bluetooth, will install next week and post a short review.

I wanted to be able to control my phone without taking it out of my pocket so I ordered a Jabra BT3030 dogtag.
I gotta pick it up Monday and I'll let you guys know how it works. http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-BT3030-B...1195472&sr=8-1 |

Belkin also makes some similar devices, I have not used any of them: Belkin Aircast Bluetooth In-Car Adapter - looks cool - a cigarette lighter plug that does stereo and calls via aux. Looks like a good solution for using an iPhone as a GPS/streaming music and still get calls. I find this appealing because you can move it form car to car - great for when traveling (until I leave it in a rental car). I'm going to give it a try. Belkin F8Z492-PBluetooth Music Receiver - looks similar to the RIM device. Not sure what power adaptor it uses. Last edited by jlc1978; 03-27-2011 at 05:58 PM.. |

Fuck apple in all its god damn glory.
I swear, every time I use their products I hate them even more. Jabra BT3030 works great for the most part. I'm an audio whore so you can take what I am about to say with a grain of salt. There is a bit of line clipping in the BT3030, however most people probably won't notice it. As for my iphone, too bad I can't justify buying a new phone since this one still works, but seriously? 5 Generations of phones and 4 generations of OS's and Apple is the LAST major phone producer who isn't supporting full AVCRP Bluetooth protocol? How much fail can you get? I only have play and volume functionality with my phone, not even pause or skip track. Thanks Apple, fuck you . [Addendum] I just put the BT dongle in my car and it sounds fine. Not great but fine. My Aux in already had noise on it so the extra noise from this little one is negligible. Still wish I had pause/skip functionality. would make this so much better. Last edited by Lenaxia; 03-28-2011 at 07:01 PM.. |

I use the BB Gateway with my Iphone 4 and works just fine. Quality is good, not spectacular, but it beats FM any day. I stream Pandora and keep the phone in my pocket. With External IPod Control from Cydia you can skip tracks using the volume buttons on the phone. So when I want to skip a song I can feel for the volume button to skip it. And volume is controlled via the stereo system. The phone pairs as soon as I get in the car. Pick a song and it plays through the stereo. When I get a call the car bluetooth takes over and the music fades. After I hang up the song starts again where I left off automatically.
This isnt the best solution but its better than listening to radio. Only real gripe is the car must be running for it to power the BB Gateway. You cant listen to music with the engine off! Why couldnt they make it power on with the accessories? Oh BMW why? |

I have a Blackberry Gateway in my 2006 325i and works great with my Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) with Android 2.2 froyo. Seemless switching between phone calls on my BT headset and music thru car speakers via A2DP stereo bluetooth. Pandora streaming via 3G and mp3 music stored in my phone work great. The adjustments I made to improve sound: turned up the AUX volume on the car radio (separate from regular volume control knob) and max volume on phone.

Hi...was looking for an "invisible and handy" solution, and i found your post.
I've just order this: http://www.bee-wi.com/bluetooth-car-...,BBA100-A0.cfm It might be the solution you are looking for. You just need an usb charger to plug in the power. It should be enaugh invisible as i will forget it under the armrest (i just hate to see aftermarket things into my car!). I'll write a review as soon as i receive it.

BB Stereo Gateway
Hey guys, thanks for all the help on this.
I keep reading that the BB stereo gateway is 40 bucks from everywhere...but when I search the only device that looks like what you guys are posting is more like 100. Am I looking for the wrong thing? Do they not make it any more? Whats the dealio here? Hopefully I can snag one for the 40 bucks but if I cant I might go with that Griffin one. Im concerned that taking phone calls would end up using the mic in the griffin though and I dont want that. |

Update
Everyone seems to be out of stock. Amazon has apparently decided that the MSRP is a good price....though I did find it for 40 at PCnation....and they had limited supply, but supposedly it was in stock..

belkin aircast is the way to go. you can stream both music and phone calls over your speakers. i installed it and all wires are pretty much hidden. sound quality is clear and sounds great. i will post pics later.
the only downside i can think of is that it can only connect to one unit at a time and you have to press the button each time you put your keys in (this becomes an automatic anyway, no issue for me). |
