Stereo Problems - Not working, Working again... any thoughts?
So, about a couple months ago, my entire stereo went out. The Dash/headunit and everything powers up, but there was NO sound; on top of that, the car lighter in the elbow console did not work either. As a result, I thought I had just blown a fuse. Since I do not use the stereo much, I was just too lazy to check all fuses, and just left it as is.
Well, on a whim, I tried out the stereo yesterday, and all of a sudden, the sound came back! It's as if nothing was ever wrong to begin with!!! This gets me thinking... since the stereo/speakers work now, I'm assuming it wasn't a fuse problem. Any thoughts on this? I wish I could provide more details, but this is as detailed as it gets. Thanks in advance for your input/advice! |

How is your battery?
Any long cranks on starting
If the car detects a low battery condition it has the ability to shut stuff down to conserve battery capacity and keep the car going. What it does and it what order I don't know. I would measure your battery with a voltmeter or have it tested. Other thinks might be the amp overheats or loose cabling. |

Cranks are spot on, no issues there.
As for the amp overheating -- i'm not sure that'll be an issue because I don't listen to my stereo very loudly. Also, for about 2 months straight, even upon start-up, the stereo would turn on, but the speakers didn't work. If it's loose cabling, that's going to be a HUGE PITA because I wouldn't know where to start. As of now, the stereo works fine... it's been working fine for 3 days now. I'm not sure what it could've been -- but it's driving me nuts. I just hope it's not anything serious. |

The amp is easy to look at it
Its in the Trunk in the area between the wheel well and corner.
Visual inspection is a first step in any troubleshooting situation. The next would to get a code readout on the car. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780865 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780605 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 |
