that guys using an in dash eclispe avn dvd navigation system there is a tilt feature but it is dangerous, i had one in a previous car and i was low so when you shift gears it cant be access and also as other members say it is definetly a safety issue .no matter how experienced you think you are. best idea is to get the i drive dash and just put your in dash nav system up there its safer and you wont have to worry

Dash vent screen

In Europe BMW offer a reversing camera kit, and the screen fits into one of the centre vents. The whole kit costs big $$$. Approx 1,200 euros

I really love aftermarket audio. However, given that my E90's bluetooth, navigation, (maybe my park distance controller too), and Logic 7 are all interconnected, it just isn't an option to upgrade.

In my E46 I had an incredible aftermarket system that was geared toward sound quality. The Alpine iPod interface was excellent; everything was great.

However, after a couple years of aftermarket gear sitting around in the car, wires get loose, components break.... In other words, aftermarket is high risk, high reward, even if you do it 'right.'

Also, I've always been impressed by Logic 7 even coming from I had in my E46. My E46 was Diamond Audio Hex speakers, JL 12w3v2, Phoenix Gold Ti amp, a boatload of dynamat and cascade v-block dampening paste, and a high-end Alpine head unit. Plus I installed the SWI-X steering wheel control interface.

Logic 7 cannot deliver impact like a aftermarket system, but it is a fantastic system when you consider how much it would cost to duplicate that quality with aftermarket gear. ESPECIALLY IN A E90.

And as I mentioned, if you upgrade one thing, you have to do it all, few hundred for bluetooth, I don't know if park distance will still work, and I don't know if the steering wheel controls can be tapped as they could be in the E46.

Alas, as manufacturers are turning to more and more exotic proprietary components (i.e., iDrive, COMMAND, MMI) it's killing the aftermarket industry that was great just 4-5 years ago. I think it sucks, but I am happy with iDrive, bluetooth, my navigation (not the prettiest, but very fast, and the location is very easy to read while driving), park distance display in iDrive, and Logic 7.

So dude, if you can make a cool aftermarket system like you photoshopped, without error lights, I would be really interested in doing so for my next E90, if you could do it for like under $4,500. (I figure navigation is $2,200, [Logic 7 is included, but has a 'value' of around $700].) I would defintely pay a premium, not huge one, to have an aftermarket system with the same level of functionality as the OEM.

IF YOU DO IT, PLEASE POST COSTS

dont like the mirror one, looks cheap. But the indash one is pretty neat, but not overly practical. I was after a similar thing, but unless you add a tilt mount or someway to get it looking up a little, you will struggle to really look it at. It would really be more for the people at the backseat, who would have to watch it with the gear stick in the way!!

I'm currently looking into producing a bezel for a double-din for the E90/92. I'd like to have it above the climate controls though. See the attached photoshop.
Can someone check if there's enough depth for a double-din above the climate controls?

Anyone that can help me out, with some pics preferably, will get a 50% discount when I start selling them.

I dont think it matters if its too low. Dont these navi systems talk and tell you where to go. You dont have to look at it all the time. And honestly any of these ideas are good. Its better then nothing...

I have a double din Apline in my other car that sits fairly low. It is a bit harder to follow with the navigation, than the OEM navi in my E92. Anything can be done with the right amount of money . It will surely cost you more than getting it originally from the factory. I'm sure you already knew that.
