A) You get new wipers once per year under the BMW maintenance plan. If it's been longer than a year then just swing by your dealer and get it replaced for free.

B) If you can't get free ones, go to any autoparts store and there will be a book by the wipers that has every year for every make and model car out there. It lists what size blades you need for each arm. Grab the ones the book says fit your car and install them. It literally takes 3 seconds. You have to do the following:

1) Go out and admire your beautiful car

2) Lift the wiper arm up

3) Remove the plastic cover

4) Rotate wiper blade so it faces the sky

5) Pull it off towards the windshield/driver seat

6) Reverse and viola! You've installed new wipers!

If pictures are confusing I even made a video:

Thanks for the post and I am not confused on how to relace the hole wiper arm. I am just wondering if you can replace just the rubber part. Some people say yes and others say no. I guess it does not matter anyways because I am getting this set for free.

When I called the dealer and asked if I can just replace the rubber part they said no you have to replace the hole thing like you are showing and they want 88 dallors for both sides. I know I can get them cheaper from someplace else then the dealer

Ah, when you said arm I was thinking you meant the entire metal part as well. BMW will overcharge for everything. I got a set of Rain-X one's from Walmart for around $40 for the pair I think. You can get a Michelin or some other brand for even less.

Rain-X Latitude wouldn't fit

Did you get the Repel or Latitude?

I picked up a driver's side one (didn't have the pax side in stock and I wasn't sure if they'd fit anyway) last Friday and they fit fine with the P&H adapter but the whole shebang is too big to get the wiper arm cover back on. They'll go on the arm w/o the P&H adapter as well but then they're installed backwards and don't make good contact with the windshield.

So did you have any problems installing?

I want to say they were the latitude.

I was able to get the little cover back on without any issues. I had to switch out the adaprters that came on the bladed for the other ones that were in the container.

If done right, the cover should fit on just fine, sine the only area that is different from stock is from the cover down towads the blade. I'll post some pictures of what mine look like when I get home.

Of three adapters that came with mine, the P&H was the one that made the blade fit right and the one indicated in the instructions from rain-x.
With the adapter on there (even without) the mount is a fair bit bigger than the stock mount from bmw. (going to take a picture now)

Update:
Mounted on the car

On the workbench

I can't tell what I'm doing wrong here.
The cover simply doesn't fit; the profile of the cover has zero chance of going over the rain-x mount.

The PH one is the right one. You have to put it on with the little part that has PH on the right side of the pivot like this:

So you look like you have it on right.

Then the cover just fits over it like this:

The key to getting the cover to go back on is to slide the bottom portion on to the metal arm then snapping the fat upper part down.

Some pics of trying to mount the cover back on:
First place it hits is where that curve is in front of the wiper.

Does your wiper cover look like mine? With that cut out following the contour of the OEM wiper?

Nope. If you look at one of the pics from my earlier post you can see the cover has a rectangular opening, not the one that is a cutout of the blade:

BMW must have changed the design at some point I guess.

You could trim yours so it fits. That part doesn't snap on to anything so I don't think it would hurt anything by doing that.

They sure did, didn't think about that...I saw earlier today that MaranelloBMW at MaxBimmer sells the "evo-type", same thing's listed on amazon.

I agree. I was already going to do that but didn't know if I wanted to buy new wipers from the dealer or maybe end up buying a new cover down the road sometime. I also thought that I might've just missed something.

Thanks for the help.

Forgot to ask you:
What's the part number for your cover? I'm thinking it'll fit the same, the front is just different.

I just bought new blades at the dealer for my 06 for $34 and they installed them for me for free. Pretty easy to install once you know how, but I probably would have messed with it for a while doing it myself. Mine look just like the ones above.

Well I got a new set from my dealer for free under warranty. The parts store there wanted 88 plus tax for them. I will be getting the rainX ones when its time for me to pay

I don't use anything other than BOSCH. Easy and best by far. I avoid RainX, I find that crap on the blade makes ir much worse in winter.

According to Real OEM, my part number would be "61617138990", but I can verify it later when I go down to my car.

Yea, I tried looking up older MYs on Real OEM but could only find the same part number as mine.
Is it right that you have the "older" style on your '08? I have an '06, seems strange.
Anyway, let me know if your cover has a different P/N, I'd like to get a set of those if I could.

I've attached a clearer picture of the part, along with the numbers marked on the inside of it. It looks like the part number might be 88776-622

I'm not sure what yeare it was changed in because I took a look at a LCI E90 that was parked a few spots down and they completely took it away with the facelift.

Just happen to have the reciept for the blades I bought yesterday for the 06 330xi.

Part number 61-61-2-158-783 for $15.50 and 61-61-2-158-787 for $16.60.

I thought this was a real high price until I went to get them for the Volvo and Advance Auto last night. I ended up spending $32 for some mid-price Tricos. The Bosch blades were about $28 each and I said no way in hell.

The OEM BMW blades that come on the car when new are more than the ones they use for the free maintainance. The ones for free on my 09 E92 would have been junk Trico blades with some big ass adapter that is like 5 inches long. They put the same crap on my X5 a couple month before. I had them put my old ones back on with my caps they through in garbage. If I want the ones that came on the car they can order them for me and I have to pay for those.

The earlier wipers are Valeo Ultimate, available from Amazon or Tire Rack. I can confirm perfect fitment on '09 E92. Sometimes TR has them on special.
