FRM Retrofit Coding

Anyone code their own FRM2/3 module and willing to post a DIY? From my understanding you code the FRM module to your car and then change your build date in your VO?

What are you trying to do? What is the production date of your vehicle

Ok so you have FRMFA, known as FRM1. AE DRL requires NFRM/FRM2.

LCI Tail Light retrofit is fine with FRMFA.

I think you should just stick with your FRMFA unless you can find FRM2 for less than $100.

+1 however a lot of people with FRM1 are hardwiring AE to a constant power source such as cig lighter.

I would rather a clean OEM solution not a hack with additional wires running around.

It can be done. I have gone from an FrM1 to FRM 2..
Basically:
- you need to install the new frm
- use win kfp to program the module to your vin
-tool32 to write the vin to the module
-go to ncs expert, write the cas vo to the nfrm module
-go back (where it says cas, frm, nfrm) and select nfrm
-validate that it shows your vin and vo
- you will then have to simulate the new module (only needed for frm 2..frm 3 does it automatically)
-in the vo just remove your production date and put 0307 click ok
-the read your nfrm module and code the module using expertmode profile.
-this will load all default values into the new nfrm module and your done
-just remember to simulate the 0307 production date whenever you want to code the nfrm

LCI Taillight Retrofit with FRM2 or FRMFA requires re-wiring, but no new wires running around.

If you consider disabling bulb checks hacking, then yes, there is hacking

for AE DRL with my current module I would have to run wires, that is what I am referring to.

I agree. I was just giving you a idea of what others are doing. Only other way is upgrading to FRM2/FRM3

Thinking about doing a FRM2 retrofit in my 06. Does anyone know if there is limit on the amount of times you can code/program a FRM2/3 module before it gets bricked? I remember reading something about this, but cannot seem to find it...if someone can confirm this, that would be great.

Would you mind going a little deeper into the Tool32 step? I'm new to it and don't know how to change the VIN.

Thanks
