I'm not sure what yeare it was changed in because I took a look at a LCI E90 that was parked a few spots down and they completely took it away with the facelift.

So if I get this cover I will be able to use aftermarket blades?

It lists what size blades you need for each arm. Grab the ones the book says fit your car and install them. It literally takes 3 seconds. You have to do the following:

1) Go out and admire your beautiful car

2) Lift the wiper arm up

3) Remove the plastic cover

4) Rotate wiper blade so it faces the sky

5) Pull it off towards the windshield/driver seat

6) Reverse and viola! You've installed new wipers!

If pictures are confusing I even made a video:

Thanks for this!

Ok now not sure if anyone else had this problem but i spent a day at auto zone and pep boys back in June 2012 looking for a aftermarket blade for my 09 e92 and the passenger side blades sit to far right they actually hit the windshield pillar.

I would actually have to flip the 18" blade upside down which the blade has a specific arrow saying which way it should go or i would have to buy a shorter blade that would cover less surface area on the windshield not to mention the adapter other blades i tried Rainx, michelin and a few others also caused the blades to sit higher on the windshield putting the blades into eye sight when not turned on.

My OEM blades are going on 3 years old. I've never had blades last this long. When the time comes, I'll buy them again...

Does PIAA make a replacement? I had them on an E36 several years ago. The metal in the arms started to rust before the rubber (silicon, actually) wore out.

Yes they do last long they are a very stiff blade cause BMW don't like to replacing them under maintnance often the only reason I was looking at new blades back in june/july is cause i was having some awful chattering/skipping when using wipers and figured that was the problem but after not liking any of the aftermarket blades fitment (hitting pillar or sitting high on windshield) I decided to go over the entire windshield with a razor blade and bam no more chatter/skipping lol

Apparently there was some over spray from painting of a road bridge or something else that the stiff blades were catching on but anyway after I scrapped windshield clean haven't had any chattering/skipping wipers work smooth and no streaks.

Your gonna get the best life out of the BMW OEM ones cause BMW only wanted to replace them once a year or less so they designed them to not wear out quick but they are expensive and on the stiff side.

Clay bar would have been easier and more safe lol..

I only get about 6 months out of BMW OEM but I replace as soon as I see it start to streak

I don't want to tell you yes, and then it not work, but I have zero issued with aftermarket blades. They changed the cover in later years so it had a little opening that only fit the oem blades. Probably a way to make sure people had to buy their blades from the dealer.

Having the same issues with figment. BMW wants $60 to replace. I've tried costco good year and they didn't feel like they'd stay on at all. Also they sit way too high.
Are there any cheaper alternatives than dealer installed?

Recently purchased from autozone. It was 20 for the pair. Haven't installed yet :/ but should work fine.

I've been able to disassemble the factory wipers that I have and get the rubber blade out. I did try various methods to get the good year blades to fit into the OEM mount... but it wasn't able to fit. So the only thing I can say for sure is... the OEM wiper arm and rubber blade can be opened and re-assembled (finding a replacement rubber that will fit in the OEM arm is a different story).

I personally feel that the rubber blade manufacturers know this and design with the intent that they are not easily interchangeable?

I have a 2007 328i sedan, I just replaced the stock blades for rain x latitude since advance auto parts had them on sale. Blades fit, but my covers don't. Mine have cut out following contours of stock blades. Any suggestions? I have them half on and think they will hold.

I'm having some trouble. I bought these:

http://www.carpartkings.com/anco-con...e-c-18-oe.html

on this site it says it's correct:

http://ancowipers.com/finder

but it doesn't fit. The blade is a few inches off the windshield on the passengers side. My car though, doesn't have the extra wiper attachment/housing that i'm seeing on some of the pictures on this thread....mine just slide on? Do I, for some reason, have a different wiper blade setup on a '10 e92 335ix?

new one vs the one that was on the car:

Having owned BMW since 1976, I can say that the rubber lasts a long time NOT just because BMW pays for it during the maintenance program...it lasted a long time even before the E46 with its maintenance program! The German rubber makes the Japanese rubber look cheap, as the Japanese stuff has to be changed yearly...whereas it seems the German stuff can last 2 years routinely. And I know that other longtime BMW owners have the same opinion.
