program update and alarm
quick question: i'm scheduled for service and it's likely i will need a program update. if i install the alarm, will it get programmed in the process or will i need to do a seperate update?

its a different procedure, however it may be less money due to the fact that the equipment to program the alarm in is already hooked up to the vehicle.

you will need to tell the dealer that you did it so that they can do a retrofit..they will charge you for whatever hours it takes to program the car. your car isnt updated unless you have a specific complaint that needs programming...just because its scheduled for service doesnt mean it gets programmed...its either complaint, module replacement, recall, or retrofit

Thanks for the replies! My Ipod keeps resetting and going to FM and the 6 multi-function presets occasionally lose their "memory", so I think I might need an update. Perhaps my CA can work a fair deal in when I go in for the first service interval.
