RFT can be patched just like "normal" tires...

+1

I 'plugged' mine this weekend with a simple 5 dollar tyre plug kit.

All of a couple minutes work, and a few more minutes with a 12v pump to re-fill the tire. ~10 minute turn around time from flat to driving off.

IMHO the "don't patch RFT" talk is *mostly* trying to get people with more money than brains to spend some cash.

Granted that if you drive a bunch on a flat RFT you should throw it away... as the sidewalls will be mangled.
(You don't drive on a non-RFT... so it doesn't get damaged after the flat)

Furthermore, a hole in a sidewall while you drive on it and mangle it up a bunch, will only turn into a crack/tear.

If you're gonna patch it, pull over right away. Don't wreck the tyre and then expect it to be good to go after a simple patch/plug job.

I keep a fix-it kit in the trunk, and a 12v pump that works on the cigarette lighter plug.
