Completely Catless - Crossing US/Canada Border Regularly - Potentially risky?
So now that I switched from PE to Vanguard I realized that if I put my Downpipes back on my car will probably smell a lot from the outside.
I cross the US/Canada border a lot for school and was thinking what if the border officers smell a whiff of gas while I'm standing there and they are doing the routine questioning? When you pullup to the officer you pretty much standing there idling and if the winds blowing the right way all the fumes will be blowing straight at the officer... if he knows his cars I think there's a chance of him picking up that the car may be catless? I will probably also get searched a couple times too since my car is usually VERY VERY heavily packed with stuff when crossing, so I'm starting to wonder if this could pose a potential risk and if I would be better off going back to my PE with the secondary cats in place. Will be crossing into Michigan/NY and back into Canada regularly

i crossed the border probably 20-30 times in my catless sti and evo. never even thought twice about it. there's no emissions testing in upstate ny so i doubt they will care. i'm not a border guard though, just speaking from experience

I'm a border guards former roomate... I can tell you there is a risk anywhere and likely not as much at border patrol as they are concerned about drugs mostly.

You're good. Now if you drove a 1980 F-150, they might question you some.

I have an uncle whose cousin's nephew knows someone down at the local dragstrip who is related to a guy that used to be a border guard, and I always leave my two cats at home when crossing the border. They start to meow a lot when the car stops, and that could draw unwanted attention.

Catless is not an issue! Try crossing with a tank of meth in the trunk!
"what are you bringing across? Nothing sir. What's that In your trunk? Meth sir. My car is a addict!" |
