NAD AV Receiver Thoughts?

Guys

I am in the market for a new receiver for home theatre and leaning toward the NAD T748. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations?

There are more feature-rich models out there for similar money. I just got a Marantz SR6008 which I absolutely adore. One thing that's important is that it can keep up with changing technology. My old one became obsolete the second I bought a 3D TV. With the new 4k technology on the horizon, I would look for something compatible. Just my $0.02.

I guess what attracts me to NAD is the dedication to sound quality over bells and whistles. I have had Pioneer, Yamaha, etc over the years and far too many features that will never get used. Thanks for the Marantz recommendation...I will check them out.

You'll find yourself always chasing the upgrade curve if you go fully integrated where you have everything running over HDMI.

It's more expensive and it's a bit more cumbersome, but I choose to stay with full separates (amp, surround processor, etc.)

But what can help if you get a Blu Ray player with dual HDMI outs like the OPPOs.

And so far from what I've seen I haven't been blown away with the current 4k TVs.

Have you looked at the Integra units?

Are you doing anything multi room?

I think HDBaseT compliance is going to be critical for future setups especially containing whole house or zones.

I have the NAD t757 and I think it's great. It has the Modular Design Construction which I think is good. I have not upgraded anything yet. However I will at some point and I wont need a new receiver. I will just purchase the card.

I have the receiver paired with KEF T205. It sounds great.

I also have the T757 for my AV receiver and love it. My primary use is music and daily sound for the TV. Not a huge movie buff so we don't crack up the surround sounds all that much but the tunes sound great. As bmnorm points out it has MDC which allows future upgrades though I have yet to do/need any such upgrade!

If this was to catch on more than it has, it would be awesome. Having more devices that have a HDBaseT connection on them would be great as well, though I'm not so sure how quickly that is going to be coming given that everybody (seemingly) has become okay with the HDMI stuff.

I think more manufacturers are getting on board every day, but it definitely lends itself more to residential use than enterprise right now. With Crestron and Extron buying into it, it's a pretty big deal.

I sat through their presentation at Infocomm and thought my head was going to explode.
