Help! Anyone fitted a rear strut brace on an E92?

I have front and rear braces arriving next week for my 335d LCI e92 and looked in the boot last night and can't see the suspension towers ....... Anyone done these before that can help me?

So you ordered a part without looking at where and how to install it.

I think folks have cut their trunk linings to allow the brace to pass between the towers. Either that or just remove it. Search on Youtube for the ECS Tuning Coilover installation video. It shows you how to access the rear strut towers.

I don't really see any value in cutting up the car to install that part, outside of bling factor.

I agree, E92's do not have rear struts, everything rides on the sub-frame. The only forces acting on the shock mount would be a very slight up and down. If you want the bling factor, paint a cardboard tube and tape it in, it would serve as much purpose.

Cheers, I am just trying to establish now if all rear struts for the E92 require drilling too. The ACS one does but that is a removable version so the ends are fixed to the inner wings

Agree with the above - not needed.

Another reason a strut bar is useful in the front but not the rear is the front is not triangulated by unibody above the towers, since the hood is not strutural. The rear is a different story entirely, so it flexes much less inherently. Add to that the point made above about the forces acting on that part of the frame and a rear strut bar is not only ineffective but can alter the crush dynamics of the rear end in a rear/side collision.

Don't install it.
