battery change question??

I'm about to change the battery on my 335 07 for a dura last platinum at auto zone . The guy who has helped me before days that they will install it for me but no code (that's cool cause I'll do that myself.
He told me to make sure the guys plug in a memory saver a they have. Because they had an issue with a bmw where one of the guys did not plug that in and the car had to be completely reset? Is this true ? I've been researching and have not heard about this issue. I though u just disconnect the battery plug in the new one and code it.

I changed it on my 07 with a BMW battery. No offense, but Not sure that I would trust autozone to change it without them knowing what else needs to be disconnected. Do you have nav? If so the battery is bigger and a pain to get in there. I just disconnected the old battery, and there's was another couple connections that I had to remove and I couldn't get one to budge, so I just carefully worked around it. As with anything on a BMW this is a harder repair than it needs to be lol!

Don't have them install it, they don't have a clue what they're doing on these cars. The battery conditioning box on top is fragile enough as it is. And lmao at memory saver, they are not needed at all. You'll have to reset the clock and code the battery, that's it.

fWIW I went with the BMW battery too, since there is no exact capacity match out there, and the battery conditioning system can be finicky. Not worth saving 35 bucks over IMO.

Oh he was not trying to sell it to me rather he was going to plug in the memory saver for free. But if you guys have done it and all you had to do was reset the clock than it should be fine. I know that when the battery died completely I charged it and the only thing that happens was the clock had to be reset. So in essence wouldn't the battery going dead be the same as disconnecting the battery?

Is your current battery black or white? Only the black BMW ones are AGM. If it's white, you can just replace it with another lead acid..

I went with oem. It fits perfectly in the space and was just the easiest to deal with after returning another that was similar specs but half the size.

How about install did you do it yourself? Did you use any type if trickle charger or memory saver to install the new battery? Or just simply take out old put in new?
Did you run into any issues other than the time and date having to be reset?

Its not rocket science. No trickle charger or "memory saver" needed. Just swap the battery as someone already mentioned above. The only issue you will have from removing the old battery for the install will be to manually reset the clock.

Dont forget to register the battery after your done.

Thanks guys. Gives me peace of mind you guys telling me I can just swap it without any issues. You here so much stuff from different people it helps to hear from people who really have gone through it.

Since it's lead acid, easiest is to get the same OEM battery, install it and reset the battery charging system. I would actually advise against using any kind of charger it memory saver, cause all it will do is make it so you can cause a short. Don't ever work on a cars electrical system when it's hooked up IMO.
