New Head Unit

I bought Business class HU with Bluetooth. My question is will it be an issue swapping HU's out. In other words are there anti-theft devices in place? will bluetooth work if my previous HU didn't have BT or will coding be required, if so any quick links to codes would be helpfull. I purchased the DCAN cable offered in the STICKY at the top of this forum. Havent figured out how to code yet though and was hoping HU swap would be a PNP. Anyone know? Thanks

Its says professional .Did you already install it?

Did the USB work right away and does it have HD radio?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687463

What year car did you put it in?
What options did the car have before ?
Also did the car come with base , Hi Fi or L7.

If it didn't have bluetooth phone you probably have to add a microphone as
described in the link.

08 328i E92 W/O Bluetooth and standard HiFi. I bought this as a HiFi Premium HU and Premium Hi Fi Amp online because my system blows. I may have not got what I wanted though which is more power output to my speakers. I may have just bought what I already have. Also I have a 200W Clarion amp I'd like to add to my system. I've done it to other vehicles I own just not BMW.

The Hi Fi system is not that good.

The Hi Fi system is not that good.
It is easy to modify relative to the other systems.
The stuff in the audio thread tells you what has been proven to
work .(and why)
The head unit with USB is a good thing if you can get it integrated
with the rest of the car.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

There is only one kind of Hi Fi amp its either Hi Fi or not. The L7
amp won't work in a Hi Fi system and will cost a lot to retrofit and is super complicated to retrofit .
You can get great results putting in aftermarket speakers and amp
with the Hi Fi System . The most common drop in retrofit amp is
the Jl 600/6 . Up graded speakers are recommended if you upgrade the amp.
The Hi Fi system is called the premium system sometimes
the next level system is the L7 or Top Hi Fi.

Dude you need to read that link carefully

Dude you need to read that link carefully
All the info you need is in it.
The order to do things is
Reasearch first (become familer with what you have), then ask questions , then agonize over the choices
then open the pocket book when you have a complete plan.
Yes it works with the Hi Fi Head Unit but you should buy a technic harness to hook it up as you won't have to cut any wires.
If you want a plug and play kit MusicarNW makes the best ones and can give you a system designed to your tastes.
It's not cheap though.(but they are amazing systems)
They include a preconfigured amp and/or processor , speakers
and all the hardware (harnesses included)you need to mount the stuff . No soldering , no crimping , very little adjusting.(factory connectors where needed)
Look at all the threads from technic he a master at suggesting system configurations for this car if you want to piece things together yourself .
It doesn't look like that head unit will help you out as you don't have logic 7 unless its new enough to contain
usb and bluetooth and you can reprogram it.

The xd 600/6 is the easiest replacement for that system the one that's most used. I didn't tell you to order it.
You need a Technic Harness and you should study some of the install guides in the link for Hi Fi systems(#4 inside the link also read all the entrys before it.)

Well absolutely right when you say read and research, the problem is the thread isn't a cohesive book or reading material for that matter just a lot of great tech tips and tricks.
The head unit is an 09 and, according to the ad; Logic 7 , bluetooth and USB. I ordered the DCAN cable and was/am hopefull I will be able to program it.
I think I will get a Technic harness and xd 600/6 and see how that sounds for now.
if I like it I can try and sell the factory HU and in trunk HiFi amp, which it appears I now have two of each. Oh well , live and learn.
I'll continue to read the thread, in the mean time I need better tunes, so Technic my paypal is "@aol.com" can you, if its not too much to ask give me a quote one of your harnesses?
Thanks for putting up with my dumass newbie questions.

That thread is a major accompishment

You can't believe how disjointed things were before is existed.
If you read all the links you will in it you will get a good picture
of whats in the car and how to modify it.
Its mostly for understanding how to improve sound quality .
The head issues and adding bluetooth and usb are another subject entirely.
Its to bad there isn't one for that's all inclusive for usb and bluetooth there are about 3 or 4 different ways to go on that depending on the model year of the car and even the country of the car and its and evolving subject, I hope.

If you read my install guide inside the Hi Fi thread it will give you an idea of how the amp is installed.
I bought a MusicarNW Kit I have had it in about a little more than a year now.
