I don't think this even puts the difference in perspective.

We're talking about 1100lbs lighter Bear in mind they make 420-440whp stock IIRC.

Wish people on this board would stop being infatuated with 1/4 mile numbers as they mean next to nothing on the street. Start quoting trap numbers if you're going to bench race.

They do plenty, they give you a basis to make an argument if both drivers are of equal skill. Of course someone can mis-shift or jump out or be in the wrong gear but from a roll, many of those aspects are taken out of the equation.

So if you have an 11.3 second 1/4 mile car running a 13.3 1/4 car, the faster car has much more room for error and can still win the race.

You can't discount 1/4 times and how they help come up with a basis to speculated street races.

The First Gen CTS-V had an LS6 (same as regular corvette and GTO 6.0 liter).

The 2nd gen CTS-V has an LSA, which is a supercharged V8.

06-2012 C6 z06 all have LS7, only differences between years were slight cosmetics in interior, options, and different transmission in 2008+

Typical Z06 is about 450WHP

I personally like basing a cars performance on trap speed, but you really need to encompass 1/4 mile
ET, trap speed, power to weight and other factors to really come to a conclusion of what is "Faster" and it what aspect is a car faster.

Sometimes faster is just a top speed to people, and to most of us we don't ever get to 200 mph so most don't care about that.

Power sounds great but not if your car weighs over 4000 lbs LOL or is FWD and you spin until 100 MPH

There's not much difference in weight between the coupe and sedan. It's just like the E90/92.

Most CTS-V's will run mid to low 12's in the hands of most drivers. I believe that some have dropped into the 11's bone stock at the hands of some experienced racers.

Trap speeds are all over the place depending on conditions and transmission. I've seen some trap as high 119 stock.

That's partially correct. The first two years of the first gen had the ls6 (vette motor), while the remaining years of the first gen had the ls2 (truck motor).

They originally came with the LS6 (5.7l) for MY 04/05, and then changed to the LS2 (6.0) for 06/07. Nearly the same power output, I think Chevy just had more 6.0's sitting around as they were putting them in trucks as well.

The LS2 is no truck motor. That's just as much of a Corvette motor as an LS6. The LQ4 on the other hand...

Over on LS1Tech it's often referred to as the "truck motor," especially by those with the LS6. Mainly because the LS6 was a more "exclusive" motor, whereas the LS6 was put into many different vehicles, trucks included. The LQ4 was an iron-block motor in their Vortec series, and is a good bit different than any of the LS motors. It was a truck/suv only motor.
