iphone/ipod and idrive alittle confused.

ok so i have a 09 335i and there is the usb port in the glove box. is there a special usb cord you need to hook up into the glove box, because i just really quickly tried the usb cord that comes with my iphone to charge the phone plugged that in the glove box to my phone and all it did was charge my phone it didnt connect music or anything. is there another cord i need am i doing something wrong?

Yup. Try the center console. By the way, this is in the manual.

The USB port in the glove box is only used for uploading music to the iDrive from a USB thumb drive or hard drive. You cannot play music from a device through this port. The only port you can use for connecting and playing an iPod is the USB port under the armrest.

I just bought a 2008 335xi and I haven't picked the car up from the dealer yet, so I haven't had a chance to play around with it. The car comes with the iPod/USB adapter.

So I currently have a Creative Zen MP3 player and was planning on getting an iPod iTouch.

So can I actually hook up my MP3 player and upload my music to the iDrive?? I wasn't aware I could do this.

I got a y-cable with my car which I use to play my iPod in my car....I didn't know there was a USB port in the glovebox as well and that you could transfer songs to the cars hard drive. I'll definitely have to check this out later today cuz I plugged a USB drive into the centre console USB port and wasn't able to transfer songs to the hard drive.

Thanks Rob! When I was searching for a car I was completely against the red interior....however when I found this car (after 7ish months of searching) I instantly fell in love with the red....BSM is a insanely difficult to keep clean in the winter tho but I'm sure ull find that out pretty soon haha. Make sure u post up some pics of ur car when u pick it up!

Yeah, my 330xi is plain black and right now it looks great from the salt glaze all over it.

so plugged my USB flash drive into the glovebox port and it didn't recognize it at all...plugged it into the armrest port and it shows up and you can play music no problem...any suggestions?
