19" Rims.. staggered vs non, confused please help!!
I am looking at buying 19" Lorenzo WL 27's for my 2007 335i Sedan, and am having a couple issues so far. The guy at tire kingdom told me to stay away from a staggered setup, saying the tires can't be rotated and I would be spending a lot of $$$ on new tires more frequently as a result of not being able to rotate.
Originally this is what I wanted: Lorenzo WL 27 Front: 19x8 with a 40mm offset, 245/35/19 Rear: 19x9.5 with a 32mm offset, 265/30/19 The service guy at tire kingdom recommended me this: front/rear: 19x8 with 40 mm offset, 245/35/19 all the way around. I dont see why I would have less tire life with a staggered setup, because the tires would wear independently on front and rear, just replace them when they get worn I would think.... I dont like the fact I would be going to a thinner tire in the rear also compared to stock set up. If anyone has any suggestions, or better yet if someone could tell me the exact rim specs and tire size they recommend, I would really appreciate it!!! |

Though you cant rotate your wheels/tires with a staggered setup, it is perfectly fine to run. I would change the front tire to a 235 though since it is a 8" wheel. 245's a bit aggressive and will be ballooned on a 8" wheel.

9 or 9.5 depending on the tire brand, some tires run "thin" like the toyo t1R and some run wide, like a Michellin, and some are "true" like a General.
In any case a 9"+ is great for a 245. |

the guy at tyrekingdom either doesn't know what he's talking about or is trying to move stock he doesn't want.
he's correct in that you can't rotate tyres. tyre life depends on many things: - the brand of the tyre - the tyre pressure you run at - how you drive - roads you drive on there are so many variables I could go on... BUT coming back to the issue of staggered/non staggered, if you rotate tyres you might be able to prolong the life of your tyres by 5k miles tops. This is a rough estimate though. Also the offsets he's recommended on an 8inch rim are weak! |
