worthwhile buying e93 now?
Hey guys newbie here. I'm thinking of buying e93 325. delivery will be before christmas. got quoted $118,000 drive away from Canterbury BMW. Spy shots are coming through of facelift model and the guys at BMW there reckon it'll be another 2 years before facelift comes out in Aus. Reckon its worth buying now? Any thoughts?

As for the talk of the facelift your dealer has lied to your face, which is common practice when a facelift is near (to move old stock) the e92 landed in 2006, the facelift will land in Aus mid 2010 (i guarantee it), so if your worried about that i'd hold off.

If u can get a REALLY big discount, u can still consider it. By big discount, i mean over 15% off the RRP of the car. Keep in mind, it is a facelift, not a complete new model change over so there is not really that much of a huge difference. Choice is urs.
Good luck.

You want at least under 100k and the facelift is about 5-6 months away. I personally would tell this dealer to go jam it after blatantly lying. And when the LCI comes out, the current model prices will drop even further...

thx for the heads up guys.... like i said i was pretty sure there was facelift coming out but Canterbury BMW denied it.
I've paid $1000 deposit and the car is currently on production line. Might hold off the buy til next yr. If I lose deposit, it's only 1k. Who knows, might end up buying the same car as an ex demo lol |

I'd pull out. There's guys on here who have bought brand new spec'd out 335i's for between $102-115k drive away!!
They won't be happy (obviously) but I'd fight this one and you can expect the LCI to be out approx March 2010. Sounds like you have entered a contract due to a misrepresentation, so I'd expect your $1k back too! |

Just to give you a recent reference. ... I bought a 2009 335i with DCT, sunroof and USB in July for less than $100K on the road from a Sydney dealer. Car was ex BM exec driven, 6 months old with 7,000 km on the clock. Priced was BM Premium car (1st service free etc).
Hate to rub it in but it sounds like you're paying top dollar. |

I'm very suspecious of anything labled "Executive driven". Would the dealer admit or openly tell you if the car was used at the fascination drive days? Those cars get passed off as executive driven. I once almost purchased a Porsche Boxter that was being offered as a " Porsche Executive driven" car but it came out the car was infact one of many they trucked around Australia for the Porsche driving experiance track days. The give away was the brand new tyres and the fact the sales person told me they put in new brake pads. Now why would they do that on a car with less than 5000klms ?? Great price though and keen to move it.

^^^ that’s a good point. When I was looking for a used E46 M3 in 2004 – I was told by an insider to steer clear of the so-called “Ex BM Executive” BMW’s being offered.
I was told that they were either used on track days, or leant out to the Moto journos – or both. Kind of makes sense. Why would you be fliiping a car that has only 7,000km’s and is less than a year old. At least it comes with warranty : ) |

Given he got an '09 335i, the chance that it has been slaughtered by journo's & at the track is a bit lower, that risk is usually confined to cars available for sale within the first 6-9 months of their release in AUS. I was offered such an Audi TTS roadster with 5,000km's on the clock for $85k driveaway (last year), some $40,000 below the ticket on the thing when they had been on sale in Aus for under 6 months. A few google searches later i was able to determine it was indeed a press car & had appeared in few motor mags and newspaper shoots. I think there is still another TTS up for sale that was also involved in the same kind of activities, just look for the rego plates NXR-xxx (NSW euro plates), they're the giveaway.

Also steer clear of any Demo M's.
There was one e90 M3 $tealership demo that had been to the panel shop 4 separate times for some pretty decent repairs. |

In any event, the list price for a 335i with the options I mentioned was at the time around $125 on the road IIRC which confirms that our friend is having his pants pulled down IMHO. |

Why not get a used 335 e93 for that or less money?
If you can get the colour you like, then it will be a good saving in the long run. I couldn't find the right colour combo with DCT in used, so I had to get new. But I only paid about 5% more drive away. |

forget the 325 from cantebury
just bought 335 - alpine white, dct, m sport, 19", usb, sunroof for $114,856 drive away, so they're pulling your chain on the 325. best bargains are to be had pre- dec 2009. the factory incentive only expires 30/11/09 on the deisels etc. the rest expires 31/12/09 on 3 coupes in stock at the end of the year and don't be connned it is "from $4,000". good buying presently.
also would be cautious with cantebury - they tried to pull several swifties on my last purchase from them - they're premium 100 vehicle failed roadworthy interstate. they were caught red handed and had to pay almost $6,000 in rectifications. huge amt of 2008 demo stock sitting around the country for even more than i've paid new, but is 6 speed auto and the old idrive. gee rocky - i wonder why that stuff is sitting there. go the 335 dct and new idrive. |

The message is simple - do your homework first, set your limits, negotiate hard and know when to walk away. The sticker or advertised price on the car means absolutly nothing. If you are serious about that car, and you know how to negotiate, you will strike up a pleasing deal. There are lots of good buys all the time whether pre or post Christmas.
