N55 DIY turbo upgradeż
hey N55 guys
why don't one of you yahoos cut off your turbo and weld a v band to the manifold and fit the biggest turbo you can in there like a 5858 6262 6266 etc seems legit. if you build it someone will tune it all the best -N54 guys

Now that COBB is offering their flash, it's a matter of time until they figure out how to tune aggressively (Stage 2+ levels). The biggest headache seems to be the Valvetronic at non-WOT/partial throttle conditions.
Like anything, if there's enough demand (which there already seems to be), it's just a matter of time |

Valvetronic is the biggest difference between the N54 & N55 motors (turbo configuration aside), so if it was just that simple to overcome why haven't we seen any aftermarket turbo options? There's clearly an audience for it & the turbo has been identified as the limiting factor for power, but to responsibly tune for such an aggressive performance setting (boost curves, timing, fueling, etc) will require a complete tuning profile. |
