Unhappy First Wreck in over 5 Years :-/ *Insurance Questions

Hey guys

First pics I guess

So my insurance is esurance. I know the parts they use have to be CAPA certified. Do you guys know by chance if the bumpers / hoods here are CAPA certified and how it would work going through insurance. Has anyone done this before? Worth a shot asking I guess.

Who used used parts? I don't see that he mentioned any shop to have the work done. You're saying that Esurance was only willing to pay for used parts for the repair?

Around here if you want new parts for a 5-6 year old car you'd have to pay like 10 or 20% depending on how old your car is, its called franchise or whatever, or get used part and basically pay nothing.
As deluxe said, get an mtech front and a cf hood.

what planet are you on? this is a false statement. There has never been a used or non OEM part put on any of my cars that have been damaged in an accident. OP, you get what you pay for.....

If your car is being fixed by your own insruance company, it is spelled out in your policy binder which falls inline with state regulations what type of parts they can use. In Ga for current year cars with 12k or fewer miles, new OEM is required but any thing older is fair game for aftermarket or even used parts if availible. Its at their discretion what they use. I can tell you the company I adjusted for Progressive pushed hard for us to use used parts all the time. We would spend hours calling around for used parts which is a hassle and the shops hate it. Now if your car is being fixed by another persons insurance company, these guidelines do not apply.

They all do, supposedly, unless there is some stipulation/endorsement on your policy. What often happens is that the adjustor can say used is not available--in other words, he's required to put used, aftermarket, and original on the quote.

Just using common sense, ok, sure, maybe your car is 6 y.o., so a used fender is just as good. But WTF is a collision policy for if you can't even get OEM?

If I'm not mistaken, you do not get this with every renewal, which is obviously good for the insurance co.

Since I've never had a claim lately, knock on wood, I'm thinking that an insurance agent is somebody you can yell at and if need be, drive to their office, to not have junk parts installed or get shafted. I may be wrong.

I had to argue with that Lizard co. to get an OEM windshield. They wanted to repair a crack in driver's view, and then acted like it was my privilege to get a safejunk glass that didn't even fit (for real).

Out of nowhere an agent emails me a lower price than what I was paying, so we switched. Never had to test him on a claim, but he came through when my wife got a new car and has always been able to explain things....

Well in Wisconsin they can not make you use used parts. If I ask for OEM they have to use OEM. I do not get charged more for requesting OEM. I also can take my car to whatever shop I want.

We all hate insurance, and the people who work for them (my bro does so I'm just kidding). I mean, you insure your house for replacement cost, say 500k (the land is worth 750k, it's not going anywhere if your house burns to the ground), you're not paying nothing, you're paying a hefty premium. It makes no sense that if your hot water heater blows up, you claim it, you get dropped. It really does not, and it is contrary to all the commercials.

But thanks to my wife working for a UK co., our health care is da bomb. Doctor bills $2,800, our cost is $30 flat.

There's a case where it isn't the insurance co. doing good for the good outcome, it's the employer choosing the outcome and funding it.

You probably didnt get it on renewal. Its only sent out if something is changing over the next policy period. And you probably wouldnt remember getting it at policy inception either if it was done online. Its always buried as a link that you "read and agree to" by clicking this box lol.
