Limp Mode/Engine and car shuddering
So, I was on I-20/59 headed back to Tuscaloosa from Birmingham when the limp mode (Engine Malfunction! Reduced Power!) message came up. Immediately, I noticed that my engine shuddered very mildly when cruising, slightly more intense during acceleration, and very significantly during idle. The shudder is significant enough that when I sat down to write this post I still felt like I was shaking as I just got out of the car . This seems like one of the cylinders is misfiring, but I thought maybe ya'll would have a different idea of what the problem could be. This is pretty frustrating, my BMW dealer kept my car for a week not too long ago to fix the wastegate rattle!!

Probably fuel pump. Any long cranks? Car stock?

i wonder if all hpfp issues are related to poor gas quality in the US. I have never heard of this problem in sweden. tried to search on different forums here locally and nothing came up.

Sounds like HPFP. Bring it to your dealer.

No long cranks, just plenty of shuddering. I thought maybe because it still cranks normally it wouldn't be the HPFP, but I have only cranked it once since then so I could very well be wrong. Is this serious enough I really shouldn't be driving the car until I need to take it to the dealer? I would like transportation for the weekend if I can, but will just bear it if it can potentially damage my engine.
BTW, my car is a 2/07 build with almost 37k miles, and yes the car is stock.

Try driving it again. The limp mode (what you call shuddering) will reset and may drive fine. If it limps immediately again then you need to have it diagnosed.
