So is the general concensus no RFTs?

hey all...pickin up my 328 tomorrow & im thinkin bout gettin aftermarket 18s since i have the lowly 17s on it now lol...only thing is ive been looking at prices for RFT tires in 18 or 19 and theyre pretty damn expensive...plus everyone is saying they ride like crap...SO im thinking to go for regular tires with my new set of rims--is that what most of you are doing? i mean, im screwed if i get a flat but i guess thats what AAA is for huh? LOL....any thoughts on this...

I have had toyo t1r's on for about a week. Raining like crazy here. The rft's were squirrely at best in the rain. These things feel like glue in comparison. Burn em'

so whatd ya do with your rfts sell em? i was thinkin to save em for winter since i dont like driving with rims during snow but i dunno now that you said theyre rough in wet weather....

+1. It all comes down to your preferences. Search the threads to see what will work best for you based on your likes and dislikes.

You might want to re-think 18" wheels and tires and go to 19"ers. 19" General Exclaim UHP tires are VERY highly rated by Tire Rack and really inexpensive!

Think carefully before committing. 19s are expensive, heavy particularly with RFTs, give a rough ride, and have limited tire selection at present. Strictly for show. The salesman talked me into them and I regret it. My consolation is that if everyone buys them, I'll get my money back on resale.

I had the factory Bridgestone RFTs and they are absolutely horrible. I have the sport package that may have made it worse. I feel everything on the road and they are very noisy. I just put on 19" Miro M5 replicas and went with the General Exclaim UHP tires. Even with 19"s they ride so much better than the 17" Bridgstone Potenza RFT's.

Agree with dallas. I'm hating the RFT's on my 328. Harsh, noisy, and they tramline horribly. I don't mind the 17's, but will be switching to another tire as soon as I can make up my mind (thinking Kumho Ecsta ASX). It's a fantastic car severly crippled by the tires. Really surprising that BMW did this.

This one's a lease and the next won't be a BMW if I can only get RFT's.

dont mean to hijack and i have been reading just trying to get the right answer, can you put non-rft on a rft rim? (can i put a PS2 on my OEM rft rim)? thanks. and for what its worth, i would rather have non rft on my car.

I'll keep my RFTs until I actually get a flat. Then they have to go.

I have the stock 16's with RFT and think they ride better than my Lexus did without. I ordered 18 csl with RFT's... but I don't have the sport suspension. The salesman at the dealer said that 18's with RFT ride better without the sport because the suspension is softer and compensates for the tires.
I feel I got rooked with the expense of the 18's at 250.00 each, but If i get a flat and being a girl, the security is worth it.
