BMW Leather Care Lotion

I brought a bottle of it after a few people suggested it retains the matte finish and leathery smell...
but then I opened up the bottle and it smell nothing like the original leather, in-fact, it smells kinda bad. It has a strong unpleasant odour that smells more like chemical...

can anyone who has experience with the product tell me whether this is normal? Would that smell change (to a nice leathery smell hopefully?) once I applied it on the leather?
Should I even use it on the leather?

The bottle I brought said:
Original BMW CareProducts
Leather Care Lotion with UV Protection (with tiny letter at the side: Cleanses, protects and cares)
500ml / 16.91 fl oz
Contains: Fluid Emulsion Amyl cinnamic aldehyde, alpha CCAS, Balsams, copaiba, benzisothiazol...etc

It comes in a bottle and does not come with a sponge like some other ones i've seen. I brought it at a Canadian BMW dealer tho, so maybe that's why the difference.

I've used it for years. It reminds me of the leather conditiontioner we used to place on saddles for horse back riding. My kit is old and had some sponges, paper towel, and plastic glove. I also used to use Lexol, and ofcourse the detailing guys like the more unique products.

Zaino Z-10 Leather in a Bottle. This stuff is a lot better than Lexol and BMW care products. The BMW stuff has a strong smell that will stay around for a while.

Can you get this stuff at any ordinary store (pep boys, etc.)?

There aren't many vendors that sell it even online. Don't think you'll find it in any store.
