Delay after VPC to dealer???

My car was discharged in NY on 3-26. My CA said it will be avialable for delivery on Monday the 31st. So thats 5 days (with a weekend in there).

Some cars that landed in NY on the 26th have gotten to the Boston area (or other destinations) much quicker. (2 days!!!)

Did something go wrong with my ride? WTF

when the car arrives it has to be detailed.

its takes about 1.5 hours.

maybe the detailer is out sick or busy with many deliveries.

When a car is discharged, which is in NJ at Port NEAT, not in NY, several things happen. If yours is a POV, it has to clear customs manually, That can take from 2-14 days. If not, it is generally much quicker although it could still be singled out for a comprehensive inspection.

Then, after it clears customs, it is transported to the VDC (along a short private road between the pier itself and the VDC).

At the VDC, if there´s any damage (not uncommon), it´s repaired and sent on its way.

Then it goes to the dealer.

If it´s a new vehicle, it has to go through the PDI and then they can deliver it.

plus you also have to remember that a tech has to do the PDI, and depending on how busy the service department is depends how fast your car gets PDI'd..then sent off to detailing...and assuming they arent busy it will be done the same day.

Yea, maybe it is just transport time, and PDI/detailing, etc. My CA said that my car we being loaded onto the truck right after VPC. So not suspecting any damage.

If the truck has to make multiple stops, I guess this would be a likely scenario.

There is no way I am signing for the car before I see it. Now I'm wondering why hes saying it will be here Mon, but I will have to wait to Tues to deliver. I'm gonna email him. MUST. BE. PATIENT.

under promise over deliver maybe. They may just be trying to buy some time. Give em a call, see if you can pick it up a little early...

Great quote. Swear by it at work. Better to under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver!

We'll see what happens...

Mine was like that - it was a Euro Delivery car and it seemed to take it longer to get through the process, other people up here in Boston where getting their cars that where on the same boat and mine was a solid week later for some reason - I had them check and there was no damage or anything being fixed.
