Police BMW's

I just had to share this lovely quote from the BMW car club mgazine this month. In an article on the use of BMW's by the Police in the UK they has this to say:

Quote:
The latest 3 series car is just starting to make inroads onto the Police market. Who else but Hampshire now uses the 320d Touring Auto as it's next generation area car. The lower powered car was preferred over the last 330(d) model purely because advances made by BMW in diesel technology meant that the 330(d) was far too quick and the accident rate amongst Police drivers was getting too high. Therefore the 320d was chosen instead.

LOL

They're using 530i's, 530d's, 335i's and 123d's in Warwickshire. Some marked and some in plain clothes! B*stards!

They are cheap as they are buying police specification.

A lot of manufacturers sell a special spec - normally its a stripped down spec.

Apparently BMW have also now done a "530d Authorities Enabled Concept."

With the increasing kit loads that the authorities have to fit and carry weight is an issue, so they have developed this as a bse unit with factory configuration of standard plug-in modules and extra wiring and electricals to appeal to the relavent authorities.

Apparently the Home Office is trying to standardise equipement on a national basis, so this leaves BMW well placed.

Told you they would be in Gloucestershire, remember! 530d's and 330d's. They are on the Home Office list of approved police vehicles

British Police would never look so friendly. That's what we need - cannabis in starbucks, hardcore pornography and a friendly 'thumbs up' when we are caught doing 155mph on the M25.

That one?

The Mercs seem to be reducing in numbers in favour of (from what I have seen) an E60, E61, E90, E91 and a couple of Honda Accords with very slimline LED light units (you can't spot them easily).

Reminds me of the classic but lesser known Dom Jolly character in Trigger Happy Tv who used to ask people if they "Shpeak Nederlands?" Brilliant, but can't go on You Tube at work to find an example....

They need to look at the quality of their driver training if their crashing them, they if anyone should drive appropriately to whichever cars being used. IMO more to do with running costs I’d imagine

I always stereotype the dutch police with those two characters from Harry Enfield's show.

Humberside police have a marked E46 330i that is part of a pursuit team with a marked Subaru Impreza. They also have an unmarked black E90 and black unmarked E60. But strangely over the last few days I've seen two coppers in a Subaru Impreza that is in full rally colours and obviously sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'm trying to find out what's going on with all these pursuit cars touring around in Hull and surrounding area. As it's Hull - our local guess is drugs.

Nah - surely you mean 'young bird' Calvin.

Actually I passed the rally spec Subaru in the opposite direction only yesterday on my way home from work. They didn't take a blind bit of notice of me and there is no way in hell I was doing the national speed limit on a single carriage way A road.
