there was one post explaining that some people didn't install it correctly. I don't own an aFe myself so I wouldn't know what the correct way to install it is but that is why some people were experiencing loss of power. you can try searching for it, i think the thread was made 1-2 weeks ago, it might help.

I would think 1 nylon spacer per screw should do it - 2 wouldn't hurt. just as long as the screw is push'n that MAF flush to the intake duct. you're using the screws that came with AFE and not the OEM box one? just make sure the MAF sensor is seated in correctly to the intake duct. and also double check ur clamps. and http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=afe+install let us know what happens.

There was a post talking about how some people installed a particular part upside down.
I think it was some tubing or a part that connects to tubing. |

Had the same problem of surging. Took it apart, used the MAF spray cleaner. It helped, but did not totally cure. I switched to AFE drop-in and it immediately ran fine. About to install Dinan Ram Air.

Thanks for some more info guys. I did read about installing the piece upside down and made sure I had that right. I'll try to post some pics. I went back thru last night and re-installed eveything, and made sure to use every part. Meaning I pit two spacers on each screw between the sensor and tube. I'll see if that does anything.

Ok, so I broke the hose clamp for the filter. Where can I buy a clamp big enough? Pepboys didn't seems to have any big enough. Or is there anyway to fix the binder?

go to fry electronics, they have electronic cleaner there, its like $4. its a fluid but drys really quickly. i tested it out on my blackberry first (since its a lot cheaper then the sensor) everythings works fine. the dealer is "supposed" to clean it each time you get a new filter from what ive read.

dont just use any cleaner! Bye the C&C MAF Cleaner from Pepboys. It is $7.99 but designed just for MAF. I just got mine and will clean my MAF tomorrow.

okay, so to all of the nay-sayers...what is the best intake for the e90 3.0L? One that doesnt cause surging or power loss.

That's what I'm wondering also, because I would have thought there had to be some people with the aFe intake. But all I have seen and heard is stay away from aFe. So now I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice and should go back to stock and just cut off the silencer.

the one problem I do have thinking of, is sometimes when i start my car and drive it, the sound isnt deep or sporty at all. it sounds almost stock. But then if I turn it off and immediately restart it... it sounds perfectly normal again.
anyone experienced this or know how to fix it? |
