Xdrive disabled when tire pressure sensor low
This is just informative post, so if there is more people like me who could not figure out why front wheels are not engaging.
You can correct me if I am wrong but from my experience: X-drive system does not engage AWD when tire pressure is low. It makes sense since wheel circumference can potentially change a lot when tire is flat. Locked transfer box would try to make front and rear rotate with the same speed which would be bad. I just wonder how many people with broken sensor are driving rear wheel drive only. On the other hand, if someone wish to try RWD only, they could try to somehow disable TPMS, without having much side effects of pulling out fuses. This video doesn't prove anything. I should have recorded it with low pressure. Last edited by dzid_; 03-17-2016 at 09:12 PM.. |

I can for sure say when tpms is inactive it still works. Not sure about low. My summers don't have sensors and xdrive is definitely enabled.

As Heel Toe said xdrive still works when no sensors at all are installed. My winters don't have tpms installed and I definitely still have awd.
