Best Diagnostic Scan tool?

Looking for recommendations on a scan tool to reset codes and perform calibrations on basic services.

Schwaben SCH14020 over Ancel BM700 along with Veepeak BT adapter paired with Bimmercode app to do things like battery coding.

The Schwaben scanner even has some bi-directional testing capabilities.

Both scanners can register a battery, give BMW specific codes. Veepeak BT adapter along with Bimmercode app will allow you to code battery capacity changes if need be which can be very useful when the time comes.

The basic Schwaben/Foxwell has served me extremely well. A little slow and clumsy but it just works, no computer, no smartphone... just plug it in.

Talks to all the modules, does some live data. Does not report time-stamps for malfunctions, and cannot code battery capacity.

For a regular guy that just needs to fix broken car parts it's the way to go.

B-tool/bimmer-tool is quite powerful and cheaper than Pro-Tool if you do not need all of the latter's features. I've been using it for years and the dev continues to add more features

OP asked for basic diagnostic scanning, not recoding. RTT.

If he's looking to read codes, MHD is fine. If he's recoding things (which he didn't note), Protool. They're both good options depending on what you're doing.

I have ;

- veepeak BLT (can be use with bimmercode)
- Bimmergeek cable k+dcan (USB and Enet) with protool, b-tool or laptop apps
- JB4
- MHD
- generic OBD reader

I use way more Bimmergeek cable ,since INPA, ista, ncsexpert, and all other software are free, and more DIY tutorial on that software.

Conclusion, use bimmergeek, since you can have a all in one app, or go expert mode with a laptop if you want.
