335i manual or automatics before 02/2007 come with a bolted diff.

335i automatics only after 07/2007 come with a bolted diff.

Instead of PMs or emails, here is a good guide as to when BMW made the bolted to welded, then back to bolted again(autos only).

335i manual or automatics before 02/2007 come with a bolted diff.

335i automatics only after 07/2007 come with a bolted diff.

Mine is a manual built in April 2007, so technically it's a welded diff. I saw an earlier post that there may be a possibility of checking for sure whether welded or bolted by checking VIN?

How easy to install by a mechanic who hasn't done this type of work before? What am I looking at in terms of hours?

It really depends on his experience and background. It's not really that difficult. It can take him up 8 hours or more if doing it for the first time.

I am sure there is someone in your area knowledgeable enough to perform this type of install.

The other solution would be to send you a Quaife Final Drive Unit(will cost more) and all you have to do is swap out the complete final drive unit or pumpkin.

Budget's a little tight. If you can get the 5 for 15% off, I'd be interested.
