I like this informative thread and your guys setup. Then i have a question to ask here, what happens if the bag fails to operate/lift from its park stanced status to drivable ride height at dim sum parking lot because of pump or controller failure? This probably is only one reason preventing me from looking/moving into bag kit.

In the situation where your compressors can not operate, you would need to use either a tire pump (like a manual bike tire pump) or you can use a basic WallMart air compressor to fill the tank up, it just plugs in to your cigarette socket.

If it was a situation where your valves can not operate do to an electrical issue, you can always use a wire cutter/stripper to get access directly to your fill valves and then put 12v to them with a jumper pack.

Though personally I've had five cars on air suspension and I've never had any of these issues.

I have a friend that works for AirLift. AirLift said about 4 more months until they have a front strut ready for my 335xi. I'm not installing this suspension for the slammed look, but more for an Audi All-road type of adjustable suspension.

Looks really good, and that's a clean mounting job. I was looking at the last picture for a few seconds trying to find the tank haha.

I would consider going with the RWD version if that's your overall goal, as Air Lift usually designs their kits to go as low as mechanically possible. Although, you will be able to thread the damper body up, you won't have much to work with due to the shorter body required for X-drive platforms. Air Lift struts usually have the ability to lift UP TO stock height, however, you never want to ride at more than 70% of the dampers stroke because you'll run the risk of topping them out.

The valving will also be ever so slightly off due to the addition of your front axle drivetrain parts, but these will also be valved more aggressively than a stock strut.

Here are some photos showing the difference in length from a Stock 335i Sport Strut to an Air Lift Performance Strut (RWD, threaded all the way down):
